About the Author

Vici DeHaan was an elementary schoolteacher in the Boulder Valley Schools for thirty-one years, where she taught grades kindergarten through sixth. She is the author of ten other books and is an avid outdoorsperson who has hiked in the Colorado Rockies all her life. She has run races ranging from the mile through a marathon, and has competed in triathlons and duathlons.

Vici has sung in various Boulder choirs for 42 years, and is currently singing with the Rocky Mountain Chorale, the Boulder Chorale, and the Bach Festival Chorus. She also plays handbells at First United Methodist Church.

She holds a private pilot’s liscense and ground instructor’s certificate, and has flown all over the United States, Mexico, and Canada in a small plane. She has five children and two grandchildren, and lives in Boulder, Colorado.
