3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great..
This album is good but it could've and should've been better. Some of the production isn't that great in my opinion. "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" would've been better if not for the cheesy hook. The lyrical content is pretty tight. "It's On" is the best song on the album. D. Dot laid down a tight track for this one. Jay and Beans bring it like only...

This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Since We Last Saw State Property They Have Added A Member: Peedi Crakk. Their Second Album Is A Masterpiece.

To Begin With I Will Rate The Members.
1. Beanie Sigel - 4 Stars - The Leader. Great Rapper.
2. Freeway - 3 Stars - I Like Free A Lot, But Sometimes His Flow Is Tight, And At Others It's Annoying. Not Featured As Much As On The 1st
3. Neef - 4 Stars - I Like Him A Lot. It's Too Bad He Doesn't Get As Much Attention As His Partner.
4. Chris - 5 Stars - I'll Admit He Is Better Than Neef, But I Like Them Both. Chris a.k.a. Young Gunner Has Great Flow.
5. Oschino - 3 Stars - Good Rapper. Like His Ideas.
6. Sparks - 3 Stars - Omillio Is Very Good. However i Like O & Sparks Better Together, Not Seperate.
7. Peedi Crakk - 5 Stars - Great Addition. My Favorite Member.

1. Can't Stop, Won't Stop - Club Banger - 4 Stars
2. It's On feat. Jay-Z - Beans & Jigga Have A Good Track Together - 3 Stars
3. Temporary Relief - Peedi Is Awesome. Love This Song. - 5 Stars
4. Rolling Down The Freeway - Freeway Solo. Probably 1 Of My Least Favorites. - 2 Stars
5. B.B. Gun - Good Song. Has Most Everyone On It. - 3 Stars
6. State Prop (You Know Us) - Like This Song. - 3 Stars
7. When You Hear That feat. Dirt McGirt - Features The Newest Member Of The ROC - Ol' Dirty Bastard. Like A Lot. - 5 Stars
8. Still In Effect - Only Song That Has Neef Without Chris. - 5 Stars
9. Blow feat. Twista - Twista is Sick. - 3 Stars
10. Been Down Too Long - Oschino Solo. Would Have Liked It Better If Sparks Were On It. - 3 Stars
11. G.A.M.E. feat. Lil' Cease - 1 Of My Favorites. - 5 Stars
12. Just Another N***a - Okay Song. Nice Concept. - 3 Stars
13. Want Me Back - Good, Solid Song. - 4 Stars
14. See Clearly - My Favorite - 5 Stars (6 If Possible)
15. If I Could Do It All Again - Great Song. This Is Why I Think Oschino & Sparks Need To Stick Together. Great. - 5 Stars
16. Criminal Background - Love The Chorus. - 5 Stars
17. 94 Bars (Bonus Track) - Chris' Solo Track. Good But I Like Chris Better With Neef. - 4 Stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Cant Stop, Wont Stop, November 16, 2003

Blayz-1 (houston the dirty dirty) - See all my reviews
This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Wow. This cd got some hot stuff on it. Some of yall might not have liked the first single "Can't Stop Won't Stop." It was mediocre. But this album has everything you could want from a hiphop group. The members of State Property got some good chemistry. Lemme rate each rapper as a solo artist out of 5:

-Young Chris (of Young Gunz): 4/5 Got some good rhymes. He's on a lot of the tracks and that's not a bad thing. His solo track "94 Bars" shows off his talent well.
-Neef (of Young Gunz): 3.5/5 He's good but I think he's better rapping with Chris.
-Beanie Sigel: 4.5/5 Beans is, of course, the leader of the group and there's no reason why he shouldn't be.
-Peedi Crakk: 4.5/5 This new member can spit some HOT sh*t. The boy is good no doubt. He's got a uniqe flow.
-Oschino: 4/5 Oschino's got some dope lines. His solo "Been Down Too Long," where he raps about his life, is real deep. I like it.
-Sparks: 3/5 He's got skills but he's better with his boy Oschino.
-Freeway: 4/5 Freeway is my favorite of State Property but he wasn't the best on this album. If you go cop his solo cd, Philadelphia Freeway, you won't be dissapointed.

With their combined efforts, this cd is needed for your collection especially if you're a Roc-A-Fella fan. My favorite tracks are Temporary Relief, Rolling Down the Freeway, State Prop (You Know Us), G.A.M.E., and Want Me Back. With Jay-Z retiring, SP'll give life to the Roc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great.., November 12, 2003
This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Jay and Beans bring it like only they can. Listen to the lyrics. It's a Jay-Z classic, even though Beans flow is probably even tighter. Freeway is probably my favorite of the group (other than Jay), but I wish he would've been on more songs. "Still in Effect" hits you with his trademark flows. I wish it wasn't just one verse. "See Clearly" is also a tight track. If you like State P, you should definitely buy this album, though it's not nearly as good as it could be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Correlations, October 8, 2003
By
Vigor (East Coast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Freeway's song 'Still in Effect' is the continuation of his song "Full Effect" in his album. And they fit perfectly. Still in Effect is faster & shorter, but it is reminiscent. And man does Chris seem to be the more outspoken one out of Young Gunz, right? Here's my list of personal favs from best to worst:

1) G.A.M.E. (Peedi got it)
2) Rolling down the Freeway
3) Can't stop (Neef sounds fly on his part)
4) 94 Bars
5) Temporary Relief
6) When you hear that (P. Crakk's part)
7) Still in Effect (Free's part more)
8) Want me back

Man do I luh dis album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a sophomore album, September 25, 2003
By
This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
...although I think I does suffer a little of the sophomore slump. This isn't hard to believe since the first was really an amazing album. Not as good as the first State Property album, this album is still definitely one to buy. Some great performances are able to outweigh some questionable hooks. Buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hottt, September 20, 2003
This review is from: State Property Presents The Chain Gang Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
This is one of the hottest CDs you can pick up. Some of the songs grow on you but if you cant tell from the first 3 joints on here you've got a classic CD. All of the new artist seem to be maturing in their own styles. Most evident is the on-coming of younG Chris. Pick it up. Cop the Disc and all that.
