Truer than you know,

A very overlooked book. The only thing I can tell you is that what happened in this book is closer to the truth than you know.

Middle of the road again,

I followed this book immediately after reading Agent of Influence, and found my sentiments from that one bleeding over to this one as well. Again, I appreciated that it moved quickly and I could finish it in a long afternoon on the beach, but the story was SO cliche. I didn't mind that it was terribly dated, but again...it's all been done. So...3 stars.

Average thriller about mad Nuclear gamesmanship,

This review is from: State Scarlet (Hardcover)
State Scarlet is a very dated book about a rogue U.S solider getting his hands on a portable nuke. Both the U.S.S.R and U.S wish to stop him, for their own purposes. The chase is cliche, but the book's strength is in how it portrays how American politicans use circumstances to further their own agenda. The Soviets here are more than just one-dimensional heavys, but they are still not interesting. It must have been scary for its day though.

I have just recently finished reading state scarlet and i must say it is great. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to put it down. This book realy puts you in the heads of each character and shows a great example of what could have happened during the cold war
