4.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected, January 21, 2000

When I read the synopsis for this book, I was expecting the major conflict to be David having to deal with lying to the woman he was falling in love with. But that's only the first half of the book. The second half is focused on Holly being unable to forget that David was responsible for the imprisonment of her brother and not willing to put her heart on the line for a man who has a job that involves risking his life. All the characters in this book are well written. Anyone can easily relate to Holly, and at the same time have sympathy for David and the situation he is in. This is a charming story that moves quickly and is a wonderful, light romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was good but it could have been a little better., January 14, 2000

The ending was a little predictable and a bit too quick in time changes. I would give it a thumbs up on the strong characters, primarily Holly, David and Howard. I loved the strong accuracy in terms of the White House. It's good, worth staying up nights.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Audio!, July 10, 2000
What's better than soaking in a hot tub and reading a Silhouette Romance? Listening to one. Just be sure to let the love in your life know the man's voice he hears is on tape.

The story starts with a FBI agent named David being briefed on an assignment. What is the assignment? The future president has some unsavory relatives that need to be checked out. When the handsome David Goddard takes Holly Llewellyn's cooking class and moves into her and her nephew's life, she takes the usual precautions. She may be hiding the fact that one relative is about to be president and another is a fugitive, but she isn't denying it to herself, and that is why she is suspicious of everyone. Holly and her nephew find their lives turned upside down because of their popular relatives.

I found this romance at my local library. Although I listened to the abridged version, I don't feel I missed much and was satisfactorily entertained. It is fresh, contemporary and great for those times when you don't have time to read.

This book starts off with a rush and doesn't slow down for the entire novel. Her characters are believeably motivated, real, and easy to be caught up in their lives. I ached for their heartaches and hung by my fingernails until the surprizing and satisfactory ending. Ms. Miller is one of my favorite authors and I read her like eating chocolate...can't get enought and hate when its gone.

Though short, I liked the tale. It was hard to put down and jerked a few tears out of me as I read the book. It just proved Miller's talent with the pen of literature.

4.0 out of 5 stars ..., August 25, 2011

I liked it, but sometimes Holly was too dramatic for me. Toby kept the story going so sweetly like kids do. Another well written book by Miller.
