5.0 out of 5 stars An underrated album by Uncle Ted!
If you're a Nuge fan, this album is a must-have. The song "Alone" is not something you'd expect from Ted Nugent, yet it's probably in my top five favorite Nuge songs of all time. The guitar solo in "Alone" is worth the price of the whole album. Another one of my favorites on the album is "Bite Down Hard." It's a guitar-riff driven number that...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bite Down Hard
Weekend Warriors carries some nostalgia for being a popular late 70's hard rock record but overall, it was a largely uninspired and pretty boring album with only a few good moments. Nuge never changed his formula for any of the 6 overall studio albums between 1975 and 1981 but the difference was, the first 3 albums had great guitar playing, energetic band interply, great...

The guitar solo in "Alone" is worth the price of the whole album. Another one of my favorites on the album is "Bite Down Hard." It's a guitar-riff driven number that I play over and over. Ted Nugent is the master at straight-ahead, guitar-driven rock and roll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Ted Does It Again, January 28, 2005
This review is from: State of Shock (Audio CD)
With STATE OF SHOCK, Ted Nugent creates another masterpiece. The opener, "Paralyzed", is a great wah-wah heavy rocker, and many other hot ones are also here, including "It Doesn't Matter." People who think Ted Nugent was washed up by this point do not, in my view, have full constitutional rights, because this CD burns just as hot as each of the first four and shows that Charlie Huhn was an exceptional stand-in for Derek St. Holmes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Personally, my favorite NUGENT album, June 29, 2009

For me, I really like this album, I think everything came together well for Ted, especially Charlie Hunh, who sings alot of songs, on rockers It Don't Matter, Bite Down Hard and Saddle Sore, and the ballad Alone. Also Ted let's er rip on Paralyzed and State of Shock. A late-70's gem from Nugent, pick it up if you can.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bite Down Hard, May 9, 2011
This review is from: State Of Shock (Audio CD)
Weekend Warriors carries some nostalgia for being a popular late 70's hard rock record but overall, it was a largely uninspired and pretty boring album with only a few good moments. Nuge never changed his formula for any of the 6 overall studio albums between 1975 and 1981 but the difference was, the first 3 albums had great guitar playing, energetic band interply, great production and a genuine sense of barnburning rock n roll attitude going on. Weekend Warriors was a lost album indeed, and its follow up actually manages a little better this time around. Opening with Paralyzed, its truely a classic Nuge track, featuring some killer wah wah guitar work at a speedy pace. It's back to essential Ted which is something Weekend Warriors had nothing of. Take It Or Leave It isnt bad either. Alone sort of slows the album down, not just musically but in consistancy. In a way it predicts the 80s hair band power ballad. It Dont Matter and the title track have some okay moments along with Satisfied, a nice rhythm track lying underneath some cool lead work elevate this above the rest of the album.

Bite Down Hard, Snake Charmer, and Saddle Sore have a more rocking edge to them but also lack the hooks of the original 3 records. More importantly though, the more rough and crunch production that so eluded Weekend Warriors is back and that boots the album up quite a bit. While its not Free For All or Cat Scratch, its much better than Weekend but still finds Nuge hard up trying to find memorable riffs and songs at this point.

4.0 out of 5 stars slicker but still good nuge, March 22, 2011
By
This review is from: State Of Shock (Audio CD)
The production on this one was slicker than his earlier efforts but it still has plenty of great songs on this one. songs like 'alone', 'bite down hard' , 'paralyzed' and others stand as great nuge songs: others are not as powerful but pretty good. This would remain the case until the mid80's at least when it was probably imo a more half and half deal, on this one the great outnumber the average and that's good enough for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Under-rated, April 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: State of Shock (Audio CD)
This album is a must have to the Nuge fan. It is very under rated and worth a listen. Saddle Sore is one of Ted's usual macho tunes that is just about as good as gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ted Zeppelin!, December 3, 2009

This awesome album is from what I refer to as the Ted Zeppelin era where Nugent on guitar and vox sounded like another origional Led Zeppelin. Every track is great and this album can be listened to right through and it never lets up right to the end. This album rocks, it rolls and it's just plain amazing, Im proud to have this great album in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why the Price, September 6, 2008
By
This review is from: State of Shock (Audio CD)
Okay, this a great album. It ranks right up there with his 5 or 6 first albums (after Amboy Dukes and if you count Double Live Gonzo). What am I missing on the price the sellers (non Amazon) want for this. I have a vinyl copy of it but not a CD. I would like a CD, but jut bought Ultimate Nugent which covers TN, FFA, excellently, and CSF, WW, and P decently. Lots of extra live/alternate songs, etc.
To make a long story short, why is this so expensive? Y no comprende. But to reiterate, I am not bitching, just confused. I saw him for about the 8th time on August 1, 2008 in Tulsa, and he autographed my program from the July 1, 1978 Texas Jam, and we had our picture taken. Nice guy, book sense and common sense, believes in his values, most of which I belive in.

Lots of extra stuff on here. Why is State of Stock so expensive?

3.0 out of 5 stars Nuge is Nuge, February 2, 1999

This review is from: State of Shock (Audio CD)
A mediocre album by Teddy standards, State of Shock more or less serves up another helping of Ted in mandatory fashion. Paralyzed is the most recognizable track on the album, but it does have some other lesser known tunes worth a listen. The guitar solo in Alone is pretty choice. If you like Ted period, I'd have this one.
