an accidental find,

It's a very pretty book if that's what you're looking for but what I was looking for were more works by Douglas Coupland. I wish they would differentiate on Amazon on different authors of the same name.

a brilliant book. i hate even thinking of STATES as a 'coffee table' book as it means it's to sit as decoration. this book is a true study of natural juxtaposition. after some time with STATES you will never look at landscape the same way again.
