Older is indeed sometimes best. This one was quite popular in the late 1950s (yes, I can remember those days) and this author was quite the seller of books at that time. This particular tale takes place in Spain, where a somewhat poor and adventureless guy, Allen, a Spanish teaher in a small school in the U.S. finds himself the with quite a lot of cash from a distant rich uncle who passes away. Naturally, after received a mysterious letter, he takes a year off and heads for Spain. From here on out the romantic adventure, typical fifties style begins. While the author is no Nobel winner, she is a natural story teller and this is just simply a fun read which takes us back to a different day and time.
