3.0 out of 5 stars They Ruined it, January 28, 2003

This review is from: Statistical Theory (Hardcover)
I have been searching for the Holy Grail Statistical Theory book. I found the Second Edition of this text from the 1970's and it was perfect. I ordered this book, and they removed all of the examples and explanations that made the second edition so fantastic. Now it's as bad as Casella's book. Try to find an older edition, it will be worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars For the budding statistician..., June 1, 2007
This review is from: Statistical Theory, Fourth Edition (Chapman & Hall/CRC Texts in Statistical Science) (Hardcover)
If you are looking for a book on `Statistics' , then this is not the right book If you have already had some kind of statistical exposure , then Lindgren's book is the next inevitable choice. This book introduces the concepts of Statistics in the way mathematicians prefer: clear and precise with some motivating background. The book is very comprehensive and thus provides a springboard for more advanced statistical theory. I highly recommend it.
