This review is from: Statistical Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory (Paperback)
Not the easiest read in the world. There is a lot of omission of terms and without a professor explaining the gaps, there is a lot of head scrathing involved.

This review is from: Statistical Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory (Paperback)
C. E. Hecht has wrote an introductory text that included recent topics in the field of modern statistical theory. From the microcanonical ensemble to the non-linear phenomena "statistical thermodynamics and kinetic theory" reads satisfactory. The author avoids the sophisticated mathematics that underlie the basic concepts of statistical mechanics and the conceptual problems of this branch of science (for example the paradox of irreversibility). I divided the book into three parts or sections. In the first, we find a standard development of one "course" in statistical thermodynamics of equilibrium. The Chapters five and six constituted the second part. In this section, the author presents some topics in kinetic theory. I would like to highlight that Heicht also treats some general aspects of transport processes in dense phases. Finally, the author describes to us an accessible treatment to fractal geometry, scaling properties of polymers, the behaviour of non-linear systems and cellular automata.
