Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

The name Bill James is synonymous with baseball statistics. If you need to know the latest facts and figures about the minor leagues, his handbook is the source of record. In it you'll find complete statistics for the past year's pitchers, hitters, fielders, and managers. But far from being a machine-like compiler of data, James plays with the numbers to find the underlying relationships and trends that make baseball such a great game from a statistical perspective. These are stats that enlarge the game, teasing out the human element and giving fans even more reasons to love and respect the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute necessity to researching the minor leagues, April 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Stats Minor League Handbook 1998 (Annual) (Paperback)
I gave Bill James' '98 Minor League Handbook a 10 because I couldn't survive without it. It includes every relevant stat, plus extras, for EVERY player from AAA through to Rookie ball. This book also contains comparisons of different minor leagues (eg. hitters league vs. pitchers league) and Bill James' own projected major league stats for several prospects. I play in a fantasy league that uses minor leaguers at all four levels, and I would be lost without this easy reference guide!
