Status Deadzone has it's moments, February 21, 2001
This review is from: Status: Deadzone (Necromunda / Warhammer 40,000) (Mass Market Paperback)
My first introduction to the world of Warhammer was "Gaunt's Ghosts". I quickly became hooked, if not obsessed with the dynamics of Warhammer 40,000. Most of the works have been pretty standard pulp fiction, with a few authors standing above the rest. This is both the problem and the delight of "Status Deadzone". Like any anthology, you are going to get the good with the bad. Frankly, it looks like the editors took one decent short story and then chopped it by interspersing some less than stellar material. If you like the world of Warhammer 40,000 you won't be disappointed with the book. If you are not familiar with this fantasy series, I would recommend finding another book to start with.

Entertaining and gritty science fiction., May 6, 2009
This review is from: Status: Deadzone (Necromunda / Warhammer 40,000) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. It is a collection of several short stories, and one long story (the last story accounts for about 1/3 of the books pages).
If you enjoy playing Necromunda, like movies such as Blade Runner and Dark City, then you will enjoy reading the tales this book has to offer.

I am a long time fan of WarHammer 40K, and this book is an insult to me, and all the fans. I bought this book since I already bought all the other novels out there, and man, I want to throw it down the garbage, it's a bunch of small stories, and they're all predictable and boring. If you're planing to spend money buying this, you should just give a donation to Games Workshop and avoid the sufferance of reading this [stuff] you're money off a bridge since you will enjoy these few seconds more then reading this "We need more money at Games Workshop/Black Library" book.
