Great mood, great songs,

This is album is top-notch--great songs, cool sounds and tons of personality. Reminds me of Young Marble Giants, Luna, Mazzy Star--even the Jefferson Airplane (who they cover on this). Don't know why this band's not more well known. Keep an eye out for them.

The Most Underrated Band Out There!!!,

Status by Elk City is one of those CDs you listen to repeatedly and hear all the layers of the songs creep into your subconscious like positive subliminal messages. Their dreamy pop songs flow together like hot chocolate on a cold winter day warming your tummy! Renee and Rays voices harmonize together in a tasteful blend of sweet vocals, especially on the tracks Chocolate Girl, Fall Out of Reach, and their incredible cover of California Dreamin. Their use of synths, melodica, guitar, drums and bass are the freshest sounding youll hear in todays washed out music world! My personal favorite track is Solar Girl. This song is the perfect song to listen to on a rainy day when all your friends cant come out to play and your all alone in your bedroom. All in all this is a CD that speaks to your soul and soothes it in a way that can only be experienced by listening to it yourself! If you buy anything from Amazon.com today, make sure Elk Citys Status is on that shopping list! You wont be dissappointed! As the last song on the CD says, Dont Cha Wait!

very different, very special,

Highly intelligent and innovative indie pop -- give the sample of Love's Like a Bomb a try. The female vocalist for this band has the most naked voice I've ever heard; the only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is that the male vocalist doesn't work for me quite as well. But even despite that, this album is eminently listen-able. The cover of California Dreamin' is even good -- how did they pull that off??
