I have been a fan of Rance Allen since the early 1970's when I heard his recording of "That Will Be Good Enough For Me". He is truly an artist that was before his time. Everyone that has came after him owes him a great big THANK YOU for their success today. I was amazed by his vocal range then; it was truly amazing! I have been searching for his early recordings for many years and I FINALLY FOUND IT! Among traditional gospel enthusiasts, Rance Allen was thought of as a "radical" gospel singer back in the day and only recently, with his win of a Stellar award after 37 years, his talent is finally being appreciated. I can remember how many singers ostracized him for bringing "that worldly music" into the church. But I have always been a big fan. With most of the gospel singers "screaming" and "running" through songs,making God deaf, this man is truly a SINGER! Enjoy this early work!

It was thirty years ago when my brother first introduced me to a singer that he had heard while living in San Diego California. He did not tell me the singer's name at all. He simply said,"Listen." After the first 30 seconds, I could not contain myself." Who is this!" I blurted out. He smiled and said," That's Rance Allen." First of all, the songs were different. They were very catchy and uplifting.(The beginning of contemporary gospel) But what I could not believe was Rance's incredible range! It simple floored me! Now that I have a son that sings and plays drums,guitar, bass, and keyboards, I have introduced him to the music that I grew up listening to. I take great pleasure in introducing Rance Allen's music to a new generation.
