2005 Comp trumps all others, February 19, 2009

What's not to love about the Staple Singers' entry in the new Concord series "Stax Profiles"? The sound is MILES better than it has ever been, and even though the 1986 comp, "The Best of the Staple Singers" has more songs (two more, to be exact), this CD shuffles the repertoire a bit, but includes all the big hits IN THEIR UNEDITED GLORY, to shine like the gems they are. I take back what I said in another review - THIS is the one to get if you're just looking for a hits comp. Otherwise, get all their proper Stax albums. But for a decent hits comp, this one can't be beat.
