5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon does it again! Great follow up to their Jazz Sampler! You have a loyal customer..., February 17, 2009

After a bout of stupidity, I now have these great songs in my possession. All I can say is DOH! DOH! DOH! DOH! and DOH!

The songs are great - what can I say. Albert King and Lightnin' Hopkins should have been recognized for their excellence in their prime, but have since become icons to just about every young (and not so young) blues guitarist internationally. I believe that the great Tom Dowd may have been the engineer on some of their cuts. My recommendation would be to dive right into these guys. If I had to start somewhere, I would go with Lightnin' Hopkins: "Baby Please Don't Go" - a personal favorite...

What a great gift for those of us of a certain age! All 4 songs are keepers. Music of today just can't compare to some of the old classics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent jazz sampler from Amazon!, March 6, 2009

Amazon and Stax do it again with this Stax Sampler for Amazon, another excellent free offering that will satisfy those who are fans of these jazz artists, and serve as a great introduction to those who are new to this genre.

"The Walkin' Blues" from Lightnin' Hopkins is a great start to set the pace of this great sampler, and a personal favorite. We're also treated to a pair of classics from Isaac Hayes, "Wonderful" and "Buns O' Plenty," both of which are a great showcase for this prolific artist. "Driving Wheel" by Albert King was one that this listener had somehow missed before, and must say that I'm glad to have found it included here.

Other great samplers being curently offered here are Chess Records Black History Month and the Amazon Jazz Sampler... get them while you can!

Thanks Amazon and Stax, these are great additions to any jazz lovers' music libraries.
