Great Time Travel Romance,
By Shannon R. "avid book reader" (St. Louis, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stay With Me (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
I havent read a time travel romance in a while. I really didnt have a liking towards them. But this one by Beverly Long was great! Sarah Jane is walking the beach, and bam, ends up in the Wyoming Territory, 1888. Not California, 2005. At first, she assumes she is in Heaven then she meets John Beckett who thinks Sarah is the same Sarah who married his brother Peter and killed him, then took off with Peter's money. John eventually likes this Sarah, thinking the old Sarah has changed. In the end, he finds out Sarah is from 2005 and doesnt want her to leave him in 1888 all alone. This a great romance and a great new author as well.

It'll Stay on My Shelf,
By Wantz Upon A Time Reviews (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stay With Me (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
Sarah Jane Tremont's life is changed when she is hurled back through time to Wyoming Territory in 1888. Disoriented and mistaken for a woman nobody likes, Sarah does her best to cope with the situation. It doesn't help that John Beckett, who has plenty reason to hate "Sarah One," is the first person she meets.
Sarah needs to find out why she was brought back to John's time, and if she can go home. She has information that will make a difference for a poor family in her own time, and she's the only one who can tell them. Go or stay, find love or find peace, Sarah must make life-altering choices, and there are more lives than hers that will be altered. Long's portrayal of a 19th century frontier town is genuine and refreshing, with a cast of unique characters typical of a small town's makeup. Her descriptions put the reader into the scene, allowing them to get a good mental image of the area and action. Most of the characters are strong in their own right. However, Sarah appears to be somewhat passive in certain instances. In trying to fit in as her evil namesake, she allows the image to get too personal. Fortunately, Sarah shows enough gumption to make tough decisions and follow through as best as she can, given the circumstances. Long gets four stars for an honest tale told with panache. -C.W.

I read this book in one sitting. It was a beautiful time-travel with unique twists in the storyline throughout the enitre novel. The dialogue is sharp, funny and makes for a very good read. This is a wonderful first novel for Beverly Long and I look forward to many more to come.

Enjoyable time travel romance,
This review is from: Stay With Me (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
She suffers from battle fatigue syndrome though she is not a soldier and has not fought in any war. Instead social worker Sarah Jane Tremont is weary of all that goes wrong as she works cases on the Salt Flats area of Los Angeles. Her last assignment puts her over the edge so she quits. While walking on the beach seeking solace, a storm hits.
When the air clears, Sarah Jane is no longer in present day Southern California; instead somehow she finds herself in 1888 Wyoming Territory where she treks to the nearest farm. John Beckett accuses her of being the meanest witch on the planet and not welcome in his home though he takes her in. Bewildered, Sarah Jane learns that she looks just like John's sister-in-law, whose husband, his brother, is dead. As Sarah Jane proves that she is a nurturing good soul, she and John fall in love, but will he believe her transportation tale or assume she is still the queen of mean wearing a sheep's disguise? Though directly out of the time traveler mould, fans of the sub-genre will enjoy STAY WITH ME due to the genial lead protagonists, whose relationship is so anathema at first that readers will wonder if a romance will occur. Sarah Jane is a caring person who believes she was sent back for the purpose of providing love to the lonely farmer. The metamorphosis of John is what makes the tale as she changes from detesting her to doubting her to loving her. Beverly Long provides a fine romance. Harriet Klausner

Beautiful debut novel,

I absolutely loved this time travel romance! There aren't that many good time travel books out there right now, and this one definitely tops the list. Great characters, and a wonderful Old West setting that makes this one stand out. This one goes on my keeper shelf!

Stay With Me,

What's in a name? Entirely too much for Sarah Tremont. Stumbling across time lands her more than a century in the past, with a man who absalutely despises the woman whose name and face she bears. The more she hears about Sarah I, the more she has to agree; but Sarah II is the polar opposite, quickly endearing herself to everyone but her predecessor's brother-in-law, the man she is forced to share quarters with until she can find a way out, to another town, if not another time. Before she can do that, she needs to do what she is sure is her purpose in time traveling, healing John Beckett's inner scars; something she can only do by staying and loving him.
*** A very sweet romance is built on an intriguing premise that may be a well used one, but is now done with a freshness that transcends that fact, affirming the miracle of love on every page. ***

Oh, why aren't there more time travel romances? This book is soooo good. The heroine has the heart of gold and is feisty to boot. The hero takes a while to turn around but when he does, she never has a chance! I think what I really enjoyed about this book was the fact that the hero dislikes the heroine for good reason but becasue she has changed (since the time travel) he can't help himself from wanting her eventhough he thinks she is a terrible person. His emotions as he is torn by these conflicting feelings make the reader feel how much he cares for the heroine. 2 characters who deserve each other! When is this author going to write more books?!
