Awesome Sci-Fi Romance, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Stay in the Light (Paperback)
I found this author by reading a short story she had in an anthology titled "Lembas for the Soul". I've got another new author that is now on my automatic buy list.
Stay in the Light is a great story filled with as much adventure as romance and that's what I like. The characters were well written and believable and I could certainly identify with Alexa. She's not perfect and stunningly beautiful; she has flaws just like any of us do. I felt like I was right there with these characters as they went on their journey, finding each other, and searching for redemption. This was an excellent ride for this reader, and if you haven't read a Sci-Fi romantic adventure, this is the ticket!

Review of: Stay in the Light
by Elizabeth Lind
Author A.J. Caywood commences a breathtaking roller coaster ride in the very first sentence of the science-fiction romance entitled Stay in the Light. Alexa Bristow is a woman with The Talent, a natural ability to heal, who makes a daring escape from the Talent Research Facility that held her captive for many years. Becoming empowered as a woman for the first time in her life, she finds herself caught in an interplanetary maze of betrayal, blackmail, intrigue, kidnapping and sabotage amidst a dangerous game of hide-and-seek with powerful men in high places who'll stop at nothing to get what they want.
Alexa crosses paths with Cade Rogan, a big, burly man with the natural stealth of a panther, once a highly decorated Officer in the Imperium Special Forces military unit. Now Rogan is labeled a deserter and murderer, a fugitive on the run, described by those who know him as "a man who has no feeling left in his heart or his soul." Courageous Alexa is drawn to him and, through their adventure, they begin to build a relationship based on the inevitable attraction of two people meant for each other but who must first survive extraordinary circumstances. Under the oppressive thumb of Imperium forces and the covert machinations of the DiGenetics Corporation who unlawfully manufacture superhuman reptilian soldiers with human DNA, Alexa and Cade dare to defy those in power to clear Rogan's name. Along the way, Alexa discovers that she no longer has a reason to be afraid of the dark and Cade finds that, for once in his life, he can stay in the light.
The relentless pace of Stay in the Light is a trademark of Caywood's writing; it's a glorious page-turner guaranteed to keep you riveted from Chapter 1 to the Epilogue. Caywood excels at creating believable, multi-dimensional characters and placing them in fantastic out-of-this-world settings and nail-biting dilemmas.
Let A. J. Caywood take you along on the incredible journey of Alexa and Cade. If you're a fan of sci-fi or romance, or even just a fan of a wonderfully written, good old-fashioned adventure story, I highly recommend Stay in the Light for your reading pleasure.
