The best Jeffrey Osborne album!,
By Preston (nc) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
I thought that this 1983 album was the best one of the 5 albums that Jeffrey Osborne recorded for A&M in the '80s. This is even better than the '82 album that had On The Wings of Love. There's so much an emphasis on strong song making and a live sound. I still love Don't You Get So Mad, at one point in summer '83 my favorite song in a year when Michael Jackson dominated all music charts. George Duke produced his best songs for another artist besides himself with this one. Two Wrongs Don't Make It Right, the funky Stay With Me Tonight, We're Going All the Way, Plane Love (another funky number) and many others are what make this album stand out. Sometimes the album has some shades of '70s sounds, such as with his former group LTD. This really made Osborne a well received artist and he still is loved today by many fans!

Jeffrey's all-time best,
By Sing Brotha Sing (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
After years of listening to this album, I still have not grown tired of it. How could you? With a wonderful blend of funk-styled R&B and tender ballads, all performed with that intense, soulful R&B frontman flare that seems to have all but disappeared in the last decade or so, STAY WITH ME TONIGHT is one of the best R&B albums out there, and despite its genuine 1983 sound, it still holds up well today as an album that can get the party started, and even elevate the mood in the bedroom. With featured production from George Duke and plenty of respected L.A. session musicians at the helm, STAY WITH ME TONIGHT is a highly recommended classic.

Quite simply the best Jeffrey Osborne album out there!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
Stay With Me Tonight combines the best uptempo cuts with the best ballads the Jeffrey has put out since going solo. Even non-J.O. fans can't resist bobbing their heads to songs like the title cut and "Plane Love"(my favorites). And relaxing with that special someone while listening to "We're going All The Way" is a must. If you are lover of TRUE R&B this CD is a must for your collection!

Jeffrey Osborne - Stay With Me Tonight - Fantastic Osborne CD,
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
This album brings back lot of memories for me. It was great in 1983!, and even better today. There is not a dud on this entire 'album' ;-). Don't you get so mad. We're going all the way. Stay with Me tonight. Awesome.

Jeffrey Osborn,
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
Jeffrey Osborn is one of my absolutely favorite recording artists. There's simply no other voice as distinctive. If you like love ballads sung by the likes of Peabo Bryson or Will Downing, you will like Jeffrey Osborn.

The High Points Shine,
By anduarto "anduarto" (Provincetown, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
The single Stay With Me Tonight jumped off the radio in the early eighties and went straight into my bones. It is without a doubt one of my favorite pieces of pop music and, listening to it a little more objectively, one of the great under-appreciated gems of popular music in general. The title cut easily justifies the price of purchase all by itself. The collection as a whole, however, is uneven at best. While not quite on the level of SWMT, there are couple other great cuts. Plane Love and When Are You Coming Back To Me are both very good. Unfortunately, most of the rest strays into either the mediocre (Don't You Get So Mad) or worse. And, unlike some of the other reviewers, I think We're Going All the Way is perhaps the worst of all. It's an almost definitive example of the schlock syrup that has come to pass itself off as R&B in the last twenty years. Both R&B and Mr. Osborne's great talent deserve much better. Had most of the CD been up to the standard of Stay With Me Tonight or Plane Love, I'd have gladly given it 5 stars. Regrettably, the weak tracks pull it down to a three.

Jeffrey's breakthrough solo album.,
By
This review is from: Stay With Me Tonight (Audio CD)
By itself, "We're Going All The Way" justifies buying this album. Why? It is quite simply Jeffrey's most beautiful ballad ever and one that will instantly put you in the mood for love and romance. Jeffrey Osborne was one of the 1980s best and most prolific male R&B singers and this was one of his strongest efforts.
