I've had a love affair with Jane Olivor for 20 years now. It was this album that hooked me and I've been hooked ever since. I actually had the 8-track tape and used to play it on my way to work and to whoever entered my car. I think because of "Stay the Night" I must have converted at least 20 people who are now big Olivor fans. This cd is a must for every cd owner. I thought the 8-track was great, but the cd is even clearer, everything can be heard. Jane Olivor relays the feelings of love to its very core. An honest and sincere recording.

How does a vocalist with the poignance and range of Jane Oliver remain a wallflower in the music world? It remains a mystery and sadness to me.

Jane lavishes and captivates the English speaking world with a French flare and eloquence. You think if she were French or Italian she would have brought Europe to its knees. The transient and contemporary world of American culture cannot sustain the subtle and sophisticated calibre of such a songbird.

"Stay The Night" remains one of my favorite Jane Olivers songs. One of her best arranged songs with memorable lyrics. "Honesty" has some lovely and thoughtful lyrics. Her version of "He's So Fine" saves this song from being a relic of the 60's. It's not a teenybopper song when Jane does it. "Solitare" comes close to the Karen Carpenter version (which is probably the best). Saying that, Jane's voice give this one depth and despair. "Can't Leave You Cause I Love You" continues the pace in Jane's unique style. The rest of the cd is pretty much up to par to these first selections.

Glad to hear Jane is recording again (twenty years later) and would truly love to hear her do some of Piaf's best songs. That would be spectacular.

I wish one of her remastered cd's would have had "Last Time I Felt This Way" with Mathis. This was as much her song as his but has never appeared on one of her albums.

I miss Jane Olivor. Always on the fringe of the mainstream, this emotional singer resonated deeply in me; I still love this album and consider it one of my favorites. Jane's haunting voice is like a combination of Streisand, Celine Dion and Joan Baez; a liquid fusion of heart and soul. The songs on this album are inconsistent, but each displays Jane's many colors, from the seductive pop cover He's So Fine to the optimistically candy-coated The Right Garden. It's hard to resist the pleasures of this album; if you never gave Jane a try, listen now. And Jane, if you are out there, why have you disappeared?

I first saw Jane on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show years ago. She was promoting this album at the time, no CD's back then. She sang the title song "Stay the Night" on his show and I fell in love with the song and her voice so I bought the album. I now have the CD and love it. If you love a beautiful, clear, outstanding voice you will fall in love with this CD! Her voice is as beautiful as Celine's and all the songs are awesome!

My husband of 20 years and I fell in love to Jane Oliver's "Stay the Night". Our anniversary is coming up in September and I'm going to surprize him with this CD. Nobody can reach one's soul like Jane Oliver

If you can listen to Ms Olivor sing "Song for my father" without getting misty eyed then you are stronger than me. This is a MUST cd for anyone who loves good music, a lovely voice and beautiful lyrics.

This is one of my all time favorite albums - easily in my all time top ten. Was first played to me by a "soon to be girlfriend" - if you know the songs, you know why. And, the girl friend was wearing Lauren by Ralph Lauren, so you can fix the time. No album since has ever expressed such intense romance!

She's been called the "poor man's Barba Streisand", whatever that means, but Jane Olivor has a voice and style that are distinctly hers alone. She soars on this release. Rumor had it she was going to do a new CD, but nothing materialized. I'll be the first on line to order it when it comes, if it does. We need more!

This wonderful album reflects Olivor at the height of her career and singing. As with "First Night," Olivor is produced by Jason Darrow and their teaming again proves incomparable. Where "First Night" was very intense -- kind of pop singing as opera -- this is great, mainstream singing by Olivor. While the material itself isn't as substantial (or as dark) as with "First Night," who cares? This is a brilliant disc. The title cut is one of the finest combinations of song and singer and when those violins and Jane swoop up towards its end, it's pop music at its finest. Jane benefits greatly from the driving force of drums and backup singers and Mike DeLugg's engineering suits her perfectly. I wish Columbia would remaster this as it was one of the first CDs released and sonically it's a little harsh. But who cares -- a terrific album sung by one of the best female singers ever to walk before a microphone.

i went to see jane in concert here in boston. her voice is sweet, warm, crystal clear and full of emotions. her songs blend with her inner self. she treasures all her songs as if they belong to her. i wish she records again and come back to boston. i really miss her very much
