How to Stay Independent in Your Home,

Started out good, but did not go through all the rooms. Focused on durable medical equipement use which was OK, but could have used more emphasis on what seniors can do to promote safety in mobility around their homes in all rooms. What about stairs? Music was irritating. Pace too slow. Not worth $20.

I have been concerned about my elderly relatives. This video gave me concrete specific things that I could do to keep them safe, allowing them to stay in their own home rather than moving to a nursing home. I only wish we could have had this video when my parents were living. As an ophthalmologist with a large number of seniors in my practice, I plan on recommending this video to those who may need it.

I bought several DVD's for my clients. The information provided is extremely helpful especially for families and caregivers of seniors. The video/DVD is presented very well and addresses so many things that family members and caregivers are not informed about when it comes to providing a safe environment. Nursing homes and long term care facilities would definitely benefit by utilizing this video/DVD for inservices in their facilities. Fall prevention is so vital when caring for seniors. There are too many that die as a result of a preventable fall. The video/DVD is in demand since there is not much information available to educate those caring for seniors. It is definitely worth the $20 to help prevent so many unnecessary falls.

INCREDIBLY informative. The video offers the necessary information for those that care and are taking responsibility of their family and friends. After reviewing the information, I realized there were situations that needed to be addressed for the healthful daily living of the ones in need. I was also reminded of what a small investment and a little time could do to improve the day to day struggles . The video also offered a personal peace of mind that I have done everything I could, to help and prevent situations that present themselves during the days of elderly living. After watching it, I've only wondered why it took so long for someone to realize the needs of those that brought us into this world....and that's were I'm reminded of the caring intelligence of Mrs. Linda Schlenker, the author of this video. A MUST SEE VIDEO....and Iook forward to the success of this information for the good of everyones health.

This video was great for my Grandmother to watch. After she reviewed it, we went down to our local Osco Drug store and purchased a few of the itme that the author suggested. This video has made my grandmothers house much safer and convenient. Every elderly person should watch this video and make the added adjustments to their home enviroment with the equipment that the lady suggested in this video. Now, I do not have to worry about her when I am on the road!!

Great Information for Seniors,

I am actually purchasing my 2nd copy of this video. The first in a VHS format (still available) and now in DVD. Contrary to the other review, I believe this video to be extremely helpful. Not only does it provide helpful information on how to keep your home "senior" safe, the information is easily accessible for re-reviewing whenever you want. A relative (who I am buying this copy for) had a professional in-home assessment and it cost her over $100 and then she didn't remember a lot of the information. This is a great bargain at under $20!

I actually bought this video too late. Both my mother and mother-in-law fell within 24 hours of each other. These women are not what I consider "elderly"- in their early 70's - and healthy. However, their balance, depth perception, bone strength, etc., are starting to deteriorate. My mother-in-law is facing a very lengthy rehabilitation on her hand & wrist, and my mother still has pain when walking. This all could have been avoided if we had followed some of the very simle and easy to implement techniques that Ms. Schlenker demonstrates. Don't wait until it's too late!!!!! |
