I bought this book for myself because it's so funny, and my then-girlfriend took it and read it, and sure enough, we never got married! It has hilarious tips for staying single including: "get along GREAT with his mother." Another good one is "have an image problem" which includes this sample dialogue:
Her: Do you think my thighs are fat?
Him: No, I think your thighs are beautiful.
Her: Then you think fat is beautiful.
Him: Well, if you don't like your body, why don't you start working out?
Her: So you do think my thighs are fat!
Him: No, I think your thighs are beautiful.
Keep repeating this conversation until your relationship is over. (It won't take long.)

Amongst men, they will say, "Chicks aren't funny." Well, here's a book that a lot of women will buy for the humor, but a good portion of the advice could be very helpful. This is one of the books that I used as a resource for my book. I believe that the biggest problem that most women have in dating is "spooking" men away early. And here's a book that tells women in a woman's voice what might trigger this. I particularly find things like #19 "Use baby talk in bed, #41 "Have a prejudice, #55 Talk about therapy, #69 "Overdress", and #89 "Don't laugh at his jokes," to be very good examples of "spooking." I think it's a fun read that would make for a good woman-to-woman joke, but there's real good relationship advice in here, but not properly contextualized. Bottom line: men get spooked easily....you only get a few chances at the big one.

Jenny takes us on an insightful journey with 101 female behaviors that "turn men off." Men can review these actions in terms of their current partner or check out future relationships before they become a problem. For those romance, e-mail hopefuls, here is a way of checking out your correspondents in terms of misguided behaviors. For women, this guide is invaluable to the kinds of behaviors that men find disturbing. Men may be unaware that you wearing a bathing suit with a shirt makes them feel old, or feel too insecure to tell you that your intellect is scaring them away. Easily read in about an hour, and this is where the fun begins. Now you have a handy reference to an important check list. It's time to share some of the insights and use the book as a catalyst for your own list and insights concerning relationships. The natural sequel to the book is what men do to stay alone or lose their women. Can we only think of 101?

While this book does have a good amount of useful advice, the author can sometimes be a little insensitive. For example, in the part about attending singles' events, she writes that the only men you'll find there are "over-the-hill prowlers and socially maladjusted geeks." Well, I'm a male, I attend lots of singles' dances, and yes, I guess my social skills are a little weak. Gee, thanks for your kind words of compassion. Perhaps a woman who refuses to consider someone without the deliverance of Robert Redford deserves to be single forever. She might meet someone with all the "geekiness" of Bill Gates.

Oh, and by the way, over a year ago I met a nice woman at one of these events, and we've had a great relationship ever since. I'm sure glad she didn't read the book.

This book is a great joke. The first joke is the concept: that there are any women out there who want to 'stay single'. Hee hee hee!
