Fantastic story of how love can give people and dogs a second chance. How Luciano helps each dog is inspiring, and overall it is a great story for kids and adults alike.

A brightly colored easy read, ideal for children 4 to 10 yrs. "Stay, The True Story of Ten Dogs" is a wonderful story for children and dog lovers everywhere. Written in an engaging manner and accompanied by terrific photos, we learn of circus performer Luciano Anastasini and the career-ending hardships he encounters. Casting about for a new direction, he decides on a different sort of circus act, one with furry four-legged partners. Not purebreds or puppies from a pet store, Luciano looks for dogs that no one else wanted. As this true story unfolds, we realize that everyone is worth understanding and deserves a second chance, whether human or canine. That we all have value, no matter what flaws or limitations we may have. A great addition to a personal or school library, this book would resonate in hospital pediatric wards, and for families of children that cope with extra daily challenges.

STAY is such a wonderful story; the photographs are so engaging; and the colors are so rich and strong. I think the design is very well done, and makes the book very adaptable for a broad age range of young children. I work with young children with special needs, and I especially like having the text in an outlined block, particularly for children with visual perception issues or learning disabilities that can affect their ability to differentiate visual information on a page. It also allows for the photos to be the focus of the book for younger children, and creates the opportunity for a parent, teacher, or adult reader to guide the child to "read" and interpret the photos, while paraphrasing the text. The book also is a great way to present differentiation within a category - dogs - for children who are cognitively ready for that.

I've used it with a number of children between 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 years old. I've also used it in a preschool class of typically developing children where I support the mainstreaming of a little girl with special needs. The story is rich and complex, and offers an excellent, true-life, narrative experience for kindergarteners and first graders as well. All the children loved STAY and wanted to read it again. As one little boy, whose not quite three, closed the book, we looked at the back cover, naming each of the dogs. He then turned the book over and said, "More dogs!"

"Stay", by Michaela Muntean is a beautiful looking book and a wonderful story of Luciano Anastasini, a circus performer who had to reinvent himself after a crippling circus injury. He found his new circus identity with the help of dogs whom nobody wanted. These dogs all had idiosyncrasies that made them undesirable to their former owners. The combination of Loving Luciano and these unwanted dogs is a combination that became a wonderfully entertaining circus act. As Luciano and the "Pound Pups" bring happiness to audiences around the country, this book brings us close to the dogs who have helped Luciano as much as he has helped them. The photographs are fantastic and Ms Muntean's story is warm and intriguing. School Children and dog lovers will enjoy this book as much as I did. I give the book 5 paws or 5 stars, depending on which scale you wish to use. It is a must read!

A story of hope, love and giving. My husband and I read this short story, expecting to find a playful, child-like theme. Instead we were touched personally and inspired to appreciate the beauty on the inside of others...and pets! Definitely one of our favorites that we will share with others, young and old.

As a volunteer at a shelter, I loved the way this story made our work accessible to kids. It also teaches the valuable lessons to kids to look for the good in everyone, keep believing in your dreams, and in second chances. I passed this on and bought more for friends.

This is a wonderful heartwarming story about second chances! We have a hard time finding non-fiction books that my daughter enjoys. She was completely engrossed in this book. She absolutely loved reading about Luciano and his dogs. I enjoyed the book myself. I'm now a big fan of Luciano! I would highly recommend this book for kids.
