Who says you feel old when reminicing, October 27, 2001
This review is from: Stay With Me Till Dawn (Audio CD)
I remember all these songs from my previous life as a Scot in Fife..now living in America...what a wonderful flight back to my youth. (not that i am that old you understand)..but listening to this reminds me of seeing Judie in concert at Dundee Caird Hall all those years ago....its not live...but truth be told...she is just as good live as in the studio...;0)
If you dont have it GO GET IT you'll love it....I DO!

WONDERFUL ALBUM..brings back memories, August 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stay With Me Till Dawn (Audio CD)
Almost 20 years ago, I walked into a record shop and they were playing Judie's WELCOME TO THE CRUISE/STAY WITH ME TIL DAWN lp, which I immediately asked about ..and purchased. I loved it. I ruined the first lp with overplaying, and bought another one years later, obtained at a "vintage" shop. Now, I'm frustrated trying to find this on cd....or heck..even TAPE! I really hope that with Elton John giving Judie back the rights to those early albums of hers, we can see this work on cd. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!!!!

Very good compilation of Judie's earlier work, October 10, 2001
This review is from: Stay With Me Till Dawn (Audio CD)
A selection of work from four of Judie's earlier albums, this compilation has songs from:
Welcome to the Cruise (Rocket 1979) (released as "Stay with me till Dawn" in the US) - tracks 1-4
Sportscar (Rocket 1980) - tracks 9-12
I am the Phoenix (Rocket 1981) - tracks 13-16
Turning Stones (Polydor 1989) - tracks 5-8
"Turning Stones" was made at "The Tango Hut", now known as "Big Ocean Studios" and the place where all her albums after "Ritmo" were recorded. Since it's no longer available, this compilation represents the best way to hear work from an excellent album on which English musicians Nigel Kennedy (violin) and Andy Sheppard (saxes) guested to great effect, as shown well by the tracks included here.
Favourite tracks are always subjective, but this collection probably includes those most typically popular from the albums in question (but why not "For You", "Rise of Heart", "Sound of my sister's tears" - oh you get the idea :-) Overall, it's a very nice, representative, compilation of early pieces from an excellent singer/songwriter still releasing work of quality and depth.
