A book for every mom,

This review is from: A Stay-at-Home Mom's Complete Guide to Playgroups (Paperback)
I recently read this book and was amazed at all the useful information I found! This book is full of ideas for getting a playgroup off the ground. It covers everything from getting started to entertainment ideas. It has a whole chapter devoted to how to handle problems that might arise. I am a working mom of a 10 yo and 6 yo, but still found some great ideas for children's church and nursery. I am also going to use some of these ideas for summer while the kids are home and wanting playdates.

This book takes a common sense approach to organizing a playgroup. Helpful tips and suggestions cover how to find other moms to join, how to handle common (and not so common) problems, how to set up rules, etc. I've used it to start a playgroup in my neighborhood, and I'm so glad I did! I was very anxious about starting a playgroup, but this book has given me confidence and has been so helpful in the whole process. I highly recommend it.

Carren Joye author of "Homeschooling more than one child", wrote this fantastic book about playgroups. Not only will it guide you on how to start a playgroup, but also gives you help on all the ins and outs of maintaining one. Whether you are a looking for an existing playgroup or want to start one of your own; this book will give you the tools to make a successful playgroup for your child.
What I loved the most about this book was the fact that it was packed full of tangible activities and step by step instructions for playgroups. Joye even gives you advice on overcoming problems and including parent interactions. Did I mention there is a list of Internet resources in the back and examples of playgroup fliers to distribute. This book could serve as a guideline to multiple types of playgroups including young children, homeschooling, stay at home Dads and special needs. So if you have been thinking about starting a playgroup in your area, pick up this book.

This book could be called "Playgroups for Dummies". It's very straightforward and has a comprehensive step by step explaination of how to get a playgroup started. Covers everything in an A-Z format, from the brainstorming and idea stage, what to expect at your first playdate, and the possiblity of charging fees for a highly structured large group. If you are considering creating your own playgroup, this is a wonderful resource. I am able to find a wealth of activities, game ideas, and themes for playgroups online for free using a little internet research, but have yet to find the amount of useful information about the logistics for starting and running a sucessful playgroup that's contained in this book.
