Led lamps are the way to go...I've got 4 strings connected and they only draw 12 watts total. They aren't as bright as their incandescent equivalents, but the brightness is acceptable and considering the savings in energy they are exceptional!! Of the 4 strings (200 lamps) I had only one lamp that didn't light, but there are 2 spare lights include with each string. This is surely the way to go for holiday lighting, low wattage and no heat.

It was time to upgrade the lights and after doing all my research decided to buy these. Most folks seemed to be happiest with the C-9 size.
I had four strings end to end on an outdoor, eight foot tree. The colors are pleasant and passed the "wife test".
The only problem I had was that 11 of the the plastic bulb-shaped covers popped off by the time I had taken them down. They were easy to put back on again but I am wondering if they are going to do this every year. (All the led's are white - the coverings are colored.)
Aside from saving money on electricity, I especially enjoyed not having to replace bulbs during the season. And I will enjoy not having to replace bulbs before putting the lights up again next year.

These Christmas lights were high-quality and I was very satisfied with them. They come in more unusual colors than normal Christmas lights, so that was fun. Only a couple of light covers fell off, but they did not break and I was able to reattach them for next year. Overall I am pleased.

Lights look nice but clips are horrible!
I just got done stringing 3 strands of these lights on my home. Although the led lights look very nice, and all of them work, the hanger clips were a nightmare! Read more

GE LED C-7 light covers pop off
While I'm happy with the look of the GE StayBright LED lights, I'm disappointed in the fact that several of the bulb covers popped off when the temperature dropped outside. Read more

poor desigh
C9 clip to attach is totally useless. Doesn't come close to standard C9 clips. I cant even find a hook to attach to the house that would work with these. Back to stapling. Read more

dont use outside on your house!
I bought several of the ge brand led c9 light sets. over 75 of the caps fell off. It was impossible to climb back up on the house to reattach these covers in the snow and ice. Read more
