4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful songs
I like this album very much even though there were just a half of Bee Gees' songs in that album. The melody of "Someone belonging to someone", "Woman in you" are so beautiful. I strongly recomend Bee Gees' fan should have this CD as your collection of Bee Gees.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Movie, and the music is even better!
I loved the movie, especially the dancing scenes. I immediately went out and bought the cd and loved it, except for one thing. The music from the actual broadway show they did, "Satan's Alley" wasn't on the cd, which was a little disappointing. Only the song "(We Dance)So close to the fire" was on there, but I liked the whole cd all the same.If anyone...

5.0 out of 5 stars Any Night Fever, August 15, 2003

On the soundtrack to the movie STAYING ALIVE,the not-too-popular sequel to SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER,there are five original Bee Gees' compositions and recordings(THE WOMAN IN YOU,I LOVE YOU TOO MUCH,BREAKOUT,LIFE GOES ON and SOMEONE BELONGING TO SOMEONE). We hear an edited version of STAYIN' ALIVE(only the movie title carries the G). The originally released 4 minute and 42 second version of the song is heard during the film's end credits when John Travolta struts through Times Square. The film was directed by Hollywood great Sylvester Stallone, and makes a very short cameo appearance in the opening credits. Sylvester's brother Frank, appeared in the film as Tony,a bandmate of Cynthia Rhodes who played one of Travolta's love interests. Frank performs FAR FROM OVER,MOODY GIRL and with Rhodes, NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP. Rhodes performs FINDING OUT THE HARD WAY solo. The almost unheard of Tommy Faragher performs LOOK OUT FOR NUMBER ONE and (WE DANCE)SO CLOSE TO THE FIRE. Released in 1983 as was another Bee Gees' production,Kenny Rogers' EYES THAT SEE IN THE DARK album.

I really like this movie....the dancing AND the music. Cynthia Rhodes is so talented. The story line is good; the ending is good. I will watch this movie again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars One great album., October 9, 1998

This is an excellent album. The songs by the Bee Gees on this album rank with some of their best work, in my opinion. But my favorites are the songs by Frank Stallone and the others. The last song of the album is a must-listen. It is a song by Frank Stallone and Cynthia Rhodes. It is perhaps the best song on the album (Next to my favorite, Far From Over). I would definitely recommend this.

Too good to describe with words. So much energy, so much power. The Bee Gees songs here are just as good or better than the ones on Saturday Night Fever. This album is a must have for all Bee Gees fans. As for the rest of the album, it's great in its own way. All of the songs are either great dance songs or great slow songs. This is a well-rounded album. It is definitely one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever made. I could never listen to this CD enough or get tired of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved the feel of the music..., July 2, 2003
By A Customer

After first seeing the trailer for Staying Alive I immediately was drawn into the music. Of course Saturday Night Fever was great, but this was even better, musically. The main theme and especially Cynthia Rhodes singing "Finding Out the Hard Way" - I can listen to that over and over and still be moved - are my favorites. Don't be mislead by poor movie reviews - the music is great! (By the way, I'm actually writing this review 20 years after the movie and soundtrack were released but just watched the movie again and was reminded of how great the music is.)

5.0 out of 5 stars At Long Last, May 27, 2004
This review is from: Staying Alive (Audio CD)
I watched this film for the first time in the early 80s. I still can remember all the songs and music performed by BeeGees and other artists featured in the film. I don't know why I did not buy the album back then. Curiously, the soundtrack seemed to disappear from the surface of the world ever since. I looked everywhere in Taiwan, and then in England when I worked there. But I did not find it in all the shops I visited. At long last, eureka! it's right here on the Amazon site. I am so happy to be able to order this soundtrack from Amazon. And I am looking forward to receiving it and enjoying the songs that have made this film so memorable. I can hardly wait for the beautiful and romantic scenes to come up in my mind when I play the CD and listen to the lovely songs again, following Laura and Tony's footsteps in the Central Park, in the musical "Satan's Alley".....P.S. This soundtrick is a must for all BeeGees fans, for I don't think you will find the 5 BeeGees songs featured in this soundtrack in other BeeGees albums.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, it's not Saturday Night Fever, but it's an ok album, August 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Staying Alive (Audio CD)
Staying Alive isn't a bad album by no means. There are a several slow, love songs on the track and a 2 minute edited version of "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees. All of the Bee Gees' songs, like on the SNF soundtrack, are good, but the fast, dancing songs from the original soundtrack are gone. All in all, this is a good companion piece to the SNF soundtrack, although this has NO disco tunes in it, with them being replaced by 80's rock songs. Best song on the CD is Frank Stallone's "Far From Over"

3.0 out of 5 stars Side One A Winner-Side Two (yuck!), May 22, 2001
This review is from: Staying Alive (Audio CD)
The first side of "Stayin' Alive" is an upbeat collection of five new Gibb songs. "The top hit "Woman In You" was a great departure for the Gibbs, and they followed through with the next ballad single of "Someone Belonging To Someone". "Breakout" is a great rockin' song and "Life Goes On" begs the listener to tears with a great guitar backing by Alan Kendall. Side two? "Far From Over", (and unfortunately at this point it IS far from over),a one hit wonder, was okay at the time, but the other four songs are so dreary and ordinary, you want to immediatly skip back to side one and re-enjoy the first five songs.
