5.0 out of 5 stars smart, inspiring, clear and practical -- excellent resource!
i found this book to be just what i needed, both for myself (insomnia, back pain) and the people i work with in my practice (psychotherapy). it gave me enough information and examples to inspire confidence, both in the tool of guided imagery and in myself as its practitioner. i use the scripts. at first i wouldn't veer from them, but now i do, because i got very...

1.0 out of 5 stars I am sorry I just didn't get it
I am a true believer in the practice of guided imagery but found this book was not in anyway helpful. I need more practical hands on with less yik yak about how successful the author has been in other cases. What about me, the reader, and what I need as opposed to what you have done for the supposed others out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars smart, inspiring, clear and practical -- excellent resource!, May 18, 2000
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
i found this book to be just what i needed, both for myself (insomnia, back pain) and the people i work with in my practice (psychotherapy). it gave me enough information and examples to inspire confidence, both in the tool of guided imagery and in myself as its practitioner. i use the scripts. at first i wouldn't veer from them, but now i do, because i got very comfortable from having the printed guidelines to take off from. i also think it's very well written and intelligent, but with some humor and humanity. i keep referring back to it. i expect i'll be using it for a long time.

i would say this book is good for people who want to use guided imagery for themselves or apply it to others. one of my friends used it to help her child get over night fears.

it's definitely worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Explains the mind body connection for healing wonderfully!, October 13, 1998
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
This book is excellent for beginning to understand how the mind can control our physiological responses and effect our ability to heal. Ms. Naperstek's imagery exercises are deceivingly simple yet effective. As a veteran hypnotherapist myself, I can attest to the power of guided imagery exercises and it comes from their repeated use! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to discover how to use more of their mind to control physical symptoms and to feel better.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST THE INFORMATION I NEEDED!!!!!, June 28, 2002
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
I'm relatively new to mind-body health techniques, but this book taught me exactly what I was looking to learn. I've been struggling with several chronic health issues, and I started using Naparstek's Fibromyalgia tape first, found it very helpful, and then wanted to learn more about what it was doing and how it worked. This book was a great complement. I'm a nurse myself, so I know a lot about the traditional side of medicine. This book made a lot of sense to me and provided extra encouragement to continue with my meditation and guided imagery tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide!, July 4, 2002
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
If I had to just rely on one book to assist me with relaxing my patients as they come through Radiology, this would be it. I've used the meditations in it and the explanations about how imagery works to help create a healing mind state in my patients, and transform anxiety and fear. It works!!

I really liked this book. I found it helpful for my therapy practice with both adolescents and adults. The scripts for imagery were helpful and I use them in sessions. Information and background are shared in straight forward, easy to read terms. I have shared Naparstek's theories with clients as part of their treatment, and we have seen success. With a concrete, more pragmatic client however, these techniques are more difficult to use.

This is an excellent primer for the uses of guided imagery, and includes numerous scripts. Naparstek was the leader in popularizing guided imagery, and if you are familiar with her CD's, you already know how gifted she is in crafting a script, and delivering it. As a health counselor, I use guided imagery to access the power of the right side of the brain, and the subconscious. This book should be on the shelf of anyone who is using guided imagery in their work, or for those who want to better understand its many uses.

5.0 out of 5 stars FILLS IN THE BLANKS!, May 24, 2002
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
I have used many of this woman's audio programs. They are the best around, and have done me a world of good on many fronts. This book explains a lot about why they are so good, and gives a nice feel for the theory and methods she uses. I found reading it very helpful and inspiring, too. You realize what's behind those meditations.

4.0 out of 5 stars good book, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Staying Well With Guided Imagery (Paperback)
leave it at that. the authors expense on a CD wasn't worth her time.

this has SOME scripts, suggest the books with 30 in them to get better benefits.
i thought this had more than it did.
