4.0 out of 5 stars Riveting and hard to put down
It has been some time since I read this book, but I remember it well, simply because it kept me spellbound. The story is very good, the writing even better. Thom is a superb writer, nuanced and polished which makes reading this book a real pleasure.

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars It was OK but...
...not as good as all of his other books I've read. I'm a huge James Alexander Thom fan and have liked almost everything I've read by him. "Follow the River" was the best of all, I read it at least four times. So when I compare it to that book, I didn't think it was all that great, other fans may feel differently about it than I do.
