Excellent for trapping the heat, makes pressing faster and easier. I was not sure I should indulge myself with this purchase, but it has proved well worth the money. Great for taking to classes and retreats in addition to everyday use.

I had seen this advertised and, quite frankly, didn't understand what was so special about the product. For those who sew small items and do piecework, this is perfect for pressing. No burnt fingers from trying to hold small pieces while you press. They "stick" to the surface with no slipping as you press. This item is going to get a lot of use in my quilting space.

There are quilt blocks that require numerous pressings before completion. I use this Steady Betty with a large TV table and a travel iron, and place next to my sewing machine. This setup is perfect and keeps me from jumping up numerous times. The current block I am working on requires roughly 10 different pressings.before it is completed. . I purchased this on the recommendations of other Amazon reviewers, and am most pleased.

I was a little disappointed to see it is covered with foam rubber and not a heat proof surface. When the package is opened and the label can be turned over, there are several cautions that would have stopped me from buying it. For example, irons with non-stick sole plates are recommended for use. Regular sole plates won't slide on the surface. It is recommended that steam is not used because it will warp the Steady Betty board. A hot iron can't left on it, the surface cannot be cleaned because it could tear the foam rubber that covers it. It is recommended for pressing, not ironing. Finally, there is a caution at the bottom, "Use care when handling your Steady Betty. The foam is delicate and can tear." But it is on the back of the label so it cannot be seen until it is opened. And it cost close to $40. Waste of money!

Excellent product for a quilter! I applique and this product holds my very tiny pieces in the pattern order. This is a big help!

My husband noticed the Steady Betty in a quilting catalog. Of course when the other half of our quilting team calls something to my attention, I look. I did some research, read reviews, searched best prices (Amazon, of course), and placed my order.

I am 'sew' glad I ordered the Steady Betty! She does exactly as advertised - holds the fabric to make pressing seams possible with NO distortion! Just received 1,920 HSTs in an exchange and I know they'll be perfect when pressed open on my Steady Betty. It's also perfect for pressing French seams.

I'm not into having lots of notions, but I really don't know how I sewed without a Steady Betty on my ironing board. Definitely money well spent!

It works well when pressing bias seams but mine is already starting to warp a bit. It does force you to press rather than iron which is a good thing however most experienced quilters know the difference already. I find it's also difficult to clean. The foam covering is quite delicate. I, as many quilters do, use fabric sizing or starch to get our fabric nice and crisp and to decrease fabric raveling. My Betty is now brownish / yellow and it looks like I'm getting a sizing build-up. I've tried to clean it as directed to no avail. There are numerous warnings about being very gentle when cleaning the delicate foam. I now put a flour sack cotton dish towel around it. The towel just gets thrown in the wash to clean. The size is really nice just wish it was not so delicate and it laid flat. If you can live w/o the foam cover, make your own small board for a lot less. Lots of videos on YouTube on how to do it.

I'm a quilter & machine embroider so this little Betty pressing board works wonderful right across from my sewing machine on my cutting table....I love it. Think I will purchase another one only bigger for my home in Colorado.

I love this little pressing surface. I have a table with this, my mini iron and my rotery cutter and mat, all next to my sewing machine for easy access. Makes making quit blocks a breeze. The only draw back is the surface squeaks under my iron, but other than that this product is wonderful. Protects the table from my iron, the the foam surface bounces back easily, grips the fabric when pressing, and its small enough to fit in my little sewing corner. Could not be happier!
