I was a little disappointed to see it is covered with foam rubber and not a heat proof surface. When the package is opened and the label can be turned over, there are several cautions that would have stopped me from buying it. For example, irons with non-stick sole plates are recommended for use. Regular sole plates won't slide on the surface. It is recommended that steam is not used because it will warp the Steady Betty board. A hot iron can't left on it, the surface cannot be cleaned because it could tear the foam rubber that covers it. It is recommended for pressing, not ironing. Finally, there is a caution at the bottom, "Use care when handling your Steady Betty. The foam is delicate and can tear." But it is on the back of the label so it cannot be seen until it is opened. And it cost close to $40. Waste of money!
