    (front flap)
Women have been stealing style inspiration from each other for generations, adapting fashions to suit their individual figures and tastes. We all admire a beautifully dressed catwalk model or a movie star on the red carpet, yet we often forget that their glamorous looks can be traced back to great beauties from the past. For example, Christina Aguilera and Charlize Theron are still remembered for their Jean Harlow-inspired fingerwave hairstyles, Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy have stolen Jackie O's First Lady fashion, and the singer Duffy's half-bouffant is the perfect modern take on Brigitte Bardot's long beehive. From Louise Brooks to Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy to Debbie Harry, there are scores of vintage looks to suit just about everyone. Those who prefer more classical styling can take inspiration from Grace Kelly's Ice Princess, while alternative types might want to copy Joan Jett's Rock Chick.

With background information describing 25 fabulous beauty icons, Steal Her Style reveals everything you need to know about getting their looks and making them your own. You'll find key details on the designers and trends of the day, color palettes and silhouette shapes, plus hair and makeup techniques. You'll also find shopping lists to help you find vintage apparel. The book concludes with a directory of vintage boutiques and hair and makeup stylists who specialize in retro looks.

When the book arrived I was surprised in a good way - didn't wait for it to be so good! Every style icon is taken to pieces, each piece is described thoroughly. What this icon's life and style was about, what kind of dresses-shoes-purses she had, what make-up and hair were made.
Important that the author is not only describing all details of style of this particular icon, but also describes how this style could be used by modern women and - most importantly! by whom. Does your body type allow to steal style ideas from Grace Kelly or Twiggy? The book will let you know:)
However concise style of the book is a small (the only one) disadvantage - as you read you want to know more and more about this style, but here comes the next one..

Apart from the interesting and useful information, the book will definitelly bring you visual enjoyment too!

I love the look of vintage and have long wanted to know how exactly to emulate certain stars styles. Brigitte Bardot was the reason I bought the book. I love her hair! Plus she just oozed sex. This book broke it down: what she wore (starting with her undergarments) and how she wore it (waist cinched tight) and includes make-up colors, how-to's and even what to look for when shopping vintage. There are many other style icons in this book as well and it describes each style in a manner that you can use.

I like this book because of the variety of styles it covers. The pics are great and the text provides interesting tidbits on each icon's personal style, as well as how to shop vintage stores for similar looks. This is a fun source for fashion inspiriation.
