You need to know that I am a major fan of Sherrie Mathieson. I wore out her last book. I have been to a number of her lectures and enjoyed every moment. I even had the good fortune to once have her in my very own closet, separating the good from the not-so-good from the outright awful.

My expectations were high when I learned she had a new book coming out and I was not disappointed. The models are real women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. They look like people you and I know and love. Good people with family to care for and lives to lead. And they look fabulous. Every one of them.

Sherrie not only styles the women but offers comments on important details to note and how those same principles can be applied as you plan your own wardrobe. The photos are so beautiful you'll be tempted to just browse through but please, don't stop there! Take the time to read the text and you'll come out with a whole new level of understanding.

Yes, Sherrie Mathieson is brilliant. Don't overlook this book. And while you're at it, buy her last one as well. You won't be sorry!

I love Sherrie's style advice, and was counting the days for her new book to be released. I wasn't disappointed. If you're a boomer who wants to stay (or become) simply cool, chic, and sophisticated--buy this book...and you don't need to have a daughter to love it-I don't!

Sherrie uses real women with "never cool" outfits you'll see in your own office or on the street. The "forever cool" changes are dramatic. Want to see a 63 year-old woman lose 20 years with a change of clothing? Check out pages 49 and 147. I'm not kidding.

Sherrie has a unique voice in a world of style opinions, and I love listening to her. Instead of being confused over the latest trends, read this book and learn about timeless style that is really (forever) cool.

Sherrie has done it again, and this time, in her second book, shows women "of a certain age" how to translate youthful looks in an appropriate way, so we look terrific without looking like we are trying too hard. Straight forward but lovely photos show clearly what works and what doesn't - and the streamlined but pointed (and amusing) text explains why an item or outfit works (and why others definitely do not work). Fun to read, but oh so information, STEAL THIS STYLE should be in every woman's walk-in closet. Don't get dressed without it!

I have bought several fashion books and have generally been underwhelmed. Most have the same, old suggestions (buy quality, clean out your closet, dress your figure...)and/or focus on quite boring corporate looks. This book focused on modernizing your look if you are 40+ and if anything hit a bit too close to home for someone who thought they generally looked pretty good (my first clue was when my 35ish year old cousin turned down my offer of very gently used clothes as being "so 90's...!). I don't think there is a woman over 40 that can relate to some of the "uncool" photos of real women and be appreciative of how to be "cooler" and that DOESN"T mean trying to look young. Its really about MODERNIZING your look. The use of real life women in real clothes was immensely helpful as each look could honestly be recreated at many budget levels. I also appreciated the inclusion of specific designers/manufacturers to look for which were within the price range of women, such as myself, that want to look good and buy quality but aren't going to spend hundreds of dollars on a skirt or pair of shoes.(I have more to do with my disposable income than spend it all on clothes!). I also liked the fact that a variety of women, both ethnically and figure types (as well as a range of 40+ ages) were featured. Also different fashion styles (ethnic/bohemian, sporty, classic, etc.). Alot of books for older women essentially insist that we all wear business suits during the week and twin sets and slacks during the weekends - nice to see some appropriate looks for those of us with more casual and/or creative lifestyles. I highly recommend this book and will be sharing it with friends.

Ever try to shop clothes for your wife or girlfriend when you really want to be watching the Giants or Jets? (Maybe not the Jets.) A friend's wife showed me this book and now when a birthday or holiday rolls around, I can look through the pages, see what looks good, go to a store and buy it for my wife, and I'm a hero. I've gone from clueless to Ralph Lauren overnight! Thank you, Sherrie.

I bought Sherrie's other book and I expected this book would be on Par with the first; but I loved this book more than the other because there are loads of examples, people with different body types and styles, fashions which suit different occasions,and I liked that the accessories, especially the shoes were more geared towards my needs( I can only wear lower heeled shoes)

I also liked the ideas for incorporating ethnic items too. You can use the ideas in this book by searching by fashion item, by occasion and trends. I think showing people of different ages in the book gives you a better idea of how you will appear in the clothes . Thank you Sherrie; this book is lots of fun!

What a fun book full of excellet, realistic ways in which to look stylish, even if we aren't in our 20s, 30s, or 40s. I had trouble putting this book down in order to write this review, but it just wouldn't be fair to others to not let them know that here is the book for which we have been waiting. What a transformation from the before to the after--and Sherrie makes it look all so easy. All so practical with tons of information and ideas. Going shopping tomorrow--wish you were going with me Sherrie--but the book will be a great tool!

Even if you don't think of yourself as "hip" or "cool", don't be intimidated! Sherrie Mathieson makes finding your own personal style easy and fun with the unique twist of sharing the experience with your mom, or daughter...or anyone who just wants a fashionable shove in the right direction. I loved every last tidbit!

Finally!!! A practical book with excellent suggestions......It should be read slowly, page by page, because everyone could learn how to look at her best.. Sherrie is extremely talented and her book is needed because too many women would like to "look good" but do not know "HOW" ..... Sherrie can make the miracle!!!!

For those of us who've been following Sherrie Mathieson's brilliant take on fashion and design, once again she gives us a superb handbook for looking great! She distills years of experience into an incredibly useful format. Sherrie continues to inspire me to create my own best looks.....what a gift!
