3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok
I liked this author from her other book Splitting Harriet but disappointed with this book. I purposely buy Christian women's fiction and I didn't feel like this was written for me. Too broad range. Not that it didn't reference the bible slightly just not enough faith written in for my taste.

Also didn't care to read about an authors life, like an...

5.0 out of 5 stars Chick Lit at its finest!, May 18, 2006
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
Once upon a time, in a big, big city, there was a romance writer whose life had absolutely no resemblance to anything she wrote...

Stealing Adda by author Tamara Leigh is a story about a romance novelist with a woefully mixed up take on relationships. Adda Sinclair is a New York Times bestselling author who seems incapable of developing the kind of intimacy she so easily writes about but so desperately desires in her own life. Adda finds herself battling writer's block, nail biting, and a hidden attraction to a tall, dark man who also happens to be her new publisher (read: forbidden fruit). The story is a riot of misadventure and comic slapstick as Adda stumbles from one mind-boggling scene to another.

Adda's arch-nemesis - dubbed the "Stick Woman" haunts her at every turn: at restaurants, writers' conferences, and at bookstores where her own romance novels compete for shelf space. Stick Woman steals Adda's husband and her dog, then has the audacity to accuse Adda of plagiarizing one of her own books. During the course of the story Adda learns that to forgive is divine, but to downright despise someone is totally human.

This novel has a unique storyline, great delivery, and characters you can really sink your teeth into (if you're into that sort of thing). Stealing Adda is one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into Tamara Leigh's next novel.

I must say from the moment I picked up the book I couldn't put it down. Adda is witty and loving. It was inspiring to read a wonderful funny Christian book. The characters jumped off the pages and you became part of the book. Tamara Leigh is an amazing writer. I can't wait to what else Tamara Leigh comes up with; I am looking forward for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Characters who will steal your heart, March 26, 2006
By
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
I loved this book! I loved the characters! It's so easy to identify with Adda, who seems to mess up everything good that happens to her. But she has the ability to laugh at herself and the staying power to get her through the difficult times.

Stealing Adda was not only a page-turner, it was inspirational. I hated to see it end. Maybe Leigh will consider a sequel...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Absolutely LOVED This Book!, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
What's not to love about Adda Sinclaire? From her fingernail polish obsession to her handling of her jaded agent, ex-husband and arch-nemeses, Adda had me laughing, cheering, crying, and dreaming! This book is hilarious (the laugh out loud kind), witty, creative and well-written with a great cast of characters and wonderful storyline...especially loved Prim & Improper. Tamara Leigh has hit one out of the park with Stealing Adda and I cannot wait to read more from this very talented author. As a romance reader, I was happy with the story and it's ending. As a Christian, I was happy with the story and it's ending...this book gave me all I wanted and then some. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous struggle in the pursuit of truth, March 6, 2006
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
In Stealing Adda, author Tamara Leigh introduces us to Adda Sinclaire, a historical romance author who frequently tops the New York Times best seller list. For Adda, life's "workout" only begins with her personal trainer! She's facing down a serious case of writer's block, while simultaneously finding herself hopelessly attracted to a man who's impossible to understand, and, on top of all that, her lacquered nails need another fresh coat of polish. Witty and originally written with clever inner monologue, the story of Adda's progression to discovering God is not sappy, stretched, or overdone. Full of wonderful character development and a plot spiced with some fun twists, Stealing Adda is tasteful and leaves the reader wanting more.

I was skeptical at the beginning, but found myself charmed as the page numbers flew by. This book would be a plus for any library. A refreshing antidote to the typical romance novel, Leigh's latest novel avoids the trap of running readers from one kiss to the next and really focuses on Adda's rather humorous struggle in the pursuit of truth, both for her writings and for her life. -- Lauren L. 4.0 out of 5 stars Witty, sarcastic fun, May 17, 2006
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
Adda Sinclair, New York times best selling romance writer isn't doing so well in the romance department in her own life. She gave up on men when Birgitta Roth, a fellow romance writer, stole Adda's husband. The relationship didn't last, but Birgitta still has Beijing, Adda's dog. She could get by without the husband, but she misses her dog.
Nick Farnsworth, president of Intrepid Books wants to publish Adda's next book. The problem is Adda has a colossal case of writer's block. Besides, every time she gets close to Nick, sparks start flying. Unfortunately he is as shy of committment as she is. Just when things finally start going well, Birgitta makes an accusation that almost costs Adda everything.
Stealing Adda is witty, sarcastic, and fun. It's also a story about how one woman with no religious inclination at all discovers God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redemption, January 11, 2008
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
I loved this book. Mainly because I was waiting for the campy ending of the main character accepting Christ, than realizing she could never write romance fiction again. But instead the author stuck to a more real panning out of the situation. The secretary is a kick. And our main girl is energetic and creative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!, February 23, 2007
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
I loved this book! Very funny and a sweet love story. I loved how the author showed us the characters with all of their clumsiness and struggles. I could see God working in their lives in everything that happened. It was a joy to read, and I got so involved with the characters that I hated to see it end. What a great new book by Tamara Leigh; I can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 Cheers for Adda!!, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
Tamara Leigh's chick-lit novel "Stealing Adda" is a must read! With its slap-stick comedy and witty humour, it will keep you turning the pages and gasping at what happens next. Tamara Leigh has created a character who is so "real" that people are sure to identify with Adda. They may even find themselves saying "I've thought that" or "Oh my gosh, that's so ME!"

Adda is a romance writer who has appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers List. When a case of writer's block hits, she must fight her fears and insecurities to get back on top. As if that's not enough, she also battles her arch nemesis Stick Woman, her nail-biting habit, and a forbidden attraction to a tall, dark and handsome publisher.....who turns out to be her new boss.

This story takes you on an amazing and hilarious journey as Adda learns about truth. Her struggles are touching, funny and often strike close to home! "Stealing Adda" is a story that will touch your heart and take up permanent residence on your "favourites" shelf. *Warning: Do not read in public as you will laugh, snicker, and hoot out loud!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, outrageously funny romance!, April 9, 2006
By
This review is from: Stealing Adda: A Novel (Paperback)
Tamara Leigh's Stealing Adda is a scream. If only more Christian chick-lit were this funny--with characters that walk off the page to become real people you care about--I'd read more of it. Adda Sinclair is a divorced romance writer who's struggling to find her way to faith--and to forgiving those who have hurt her--while simultaneously dealing with the unscrupulous rival who stole her husband, her unprincipled ex, a demanding agent, and the vicissitudes of the romance publishing industry. The latter includes Nick Farnsworth, the chocolate-eyed hunk of a publisher who's trying to steal her from the competition. Oh, what a tale of romance and vindication! I loved it! This is the first book by Ms. Leigh that I've read, and I'll definitely be looking for more.
