"An e-book gem." ~ USA Today - Happy Ever After

She stole his fate...
Lachesis is a Fate, an ancient goddess in whose hands our destinies are unraveled. When she's not weaving fortune, she does what she wants when she wants. That all changes when she runs into the man she craves but prayed to never see again. And she'll soon discover the god of terror can really hold a grudge.

Now it's his turn...
The most frightening of gods, Phobos is a predator who takes pleasure in terrorizing the world. After millennia of relentless searching, he finds the Fate who caused him to be cast down from Olympus. Now he plans to use every bit of his talents on the goddess to regain his lost heritage.

Stealing Fate is a 20,000-word standalone novella (about 100 pages).

From the Author

Much is known about the Greek goddesses of fate, yet much of that knowledge is a dichotomy. For example, while the Fates are often depicted as lame hags, they took part in many battles as warriors. The more I learned about these influential goddesses, the more I craved their stories to be told. And so Unspun was born: an anthology of three novellas, each giving a Fate her love story, and each by a different author. I found it to be an intensely enjoyable effort with fellow paranormal romance authors, Rachel Firasek and Elle J Rossi.

In Stealing Fate, you'll read the story of Lachesis and Phobos, the Greek god of terror. There is no mythological evidence to support Lachesis and Phobos hooking up. But, there is also no evidence that they didn't, and so their story begins...

4.0 out of 5 stars An author with kickassitude! June 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Let me start this with a few disclaimers. I was sent an ARC of Stealing Fate by the author, Berinn Rae. I don't give 5 star reviews. As a reader I don't always trust them. They could have been written by a friend or family member. They could have been written by the author under another name. Reviews are for readers not writers. To me, 5 stars means something is perfect and in `my' opinion nothing is perfect. Also it would seem terribly biased if I were to give this novella 5 stars. Some of you may know Ms. Rae and I are acquaintances. I'd like to say friends, but we'll wait till after the review for that call.
I'm not a huge fan of short fiction, it usually leaves me feeling unsatisfied. A lot of the time it feels rushed, with an ending all wrapped up in a nice, bright bow of unanswered plot holes. Or, as I've found lately, they read like chapters of a much larger work. Somehow, Berinn managed to pull it off, she made me love her story from enticing beginning to neatly wrapped ending. She kept me reading, even when I was supposed to be doing other things. I even read it twice to make sure it wasn't friendship blinding me. Nope, it was just that good.
The action moved along at a decent pace--love a well written fight scene--yet not so fast I couldn't catch my breath. There was a young, fresh feel to the tried and true Greek mythology by taking enigmas, like the Fates and lesser known gods, such as Terror and molding a deeper history. No sweet, sappy romance here--many thanks for that, not a fan--it's gritty and real, forged in the fires of lust. Warning to parents, while this is fantasy, it's adult fantasy. No, I don't mean a walk down pervert lane. This is a tastefully done story about adults, for adults. If you don't like it spicy this probably isn't the story for you.
For me this was a story about regret, redemption and doing the right thing at the right time. As stated before I'm not big on the sappy stuff, but Berinn didn't over do the true love conquers all. She left two little openings that could change everything. I won't spoil it for you, you'll need to read Stealing Fate to find out what. I hope Fate leads her to grab those plot threads and weave them into another installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basically Awesome March 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Stealing Fate"-12 Haters-0 Those are pretty darn good odds if you ask me. If you're an eBook browser looking for something to keep your attention for a while and kick start your imagination for days, do yourself a tremendous favor and get this book. The characters are likable, the story line awesome, and who doesn't like Greek Gods and Goddesses taking their eons-long grievances and duking it out a little? I didn't know until I read this book that I most definitely do!

Seriously. It won't disappoint. I'm a stickler for grammar and spelling errors, and there weren't any. I dislike flat, unauthentic and boring characters, and none in this book were any of those things. And, well, only one word will explain everything: Phobos.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lacey and Phobos are verra Sexy!! August 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
When I heard about this series of novellas in the works I was very excited that I would be introduced to two new authors. This is the first time I've read Berinn Rae, and I loved what she brought to this series! These are the stories of the three Fates; life, destiny, and death. This is the the story of Lachesis aka Lacey, the Fate of destiny and Phobos the Greek god of terror.

Centuries ago Lacey betrayed her one true love Phobos, after which time Phobos was banished from Olympus along with his twin brother Deimos also known as Fear. They were stripped of their godly gifts and sent to earth. Phobos swore vengeance against Lacey for her betrayal. Over the centuries the two have engaged in somewhat of a game of cat and mouse, and Lacey always slipping away. This time it wouldn't be so easy, Lacey is sent to earth, and dropped right in the middle of a night club practically face to face with Phobos. This time Phobos' prey won't slip away so easily.

Berinn Rae did an excellent job with this story in setting it up, and the writing was clean, and the character development was great! I really enjoyed Lacey who is sassy, strong, and quick witted. I loved the contrast between she and her sister Chloe, and I think that's one of the things I really enjoy about this series, is that each author brings something different to the table, and I have really enjoyed them so far. I also thought Phobos was presented very well, he just oozed dangerous sexuality from the moment he appeared in the story, YUM! I was kinda sad when this story was over, I found myself invested in the characters very quickly. Berinn Rae has a great voice, and I really look forward to more from her.
