This book really sucks. It's poorly organized and doesn't have anything interesting to say. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.I have only heard about this book second hand- so perhaps take with a grain of salt. But the person I heard it from had nothing but negative things to say about the book.

I was assigned this book for a graduate level seminar. The book gave a formidable insight on the initiative process in the California. It was organized in such a way to illustrate what the pros and cons of the initiative process are and the implementation, then gave case studies for specific propositions. The case studies were informative and allowed you to form your own opinion on the initiative process. Although the title of the book might implore a negative view of the initiative process, I was able to take good and bad things out of it. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in California politics or just direct democracy.

This book is very poorly organized. It does not convey its message well, and is generally uninformative. DO NOT BUY/READ IT.
