Book Description

A stealth juror is an ordinary citizen serving on a jury who understands and is not afraid to exercise his right to judge not only the evidence in a case but the very law upon which the prosecution is based. If the law is bad or unfair, he secretly works to acquit any defendant being persecuted for a nonviolent, victimless crime. He must remain undercover because he represents a direct threat to the power of judges and prosecutors. He is the last champion of justice in the American courtroom. This book will tell you exactly how to become a stealth juror, including how to get yourself seated on a jury where you can do the most good for just causes (from preserving gun rights to opposing the War on Drugs), recognize and avoid the games that lawyers and judges use to manipulate the outcome of a case, secretly win over your fellow jurors in the deliberation room and much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book should be read by..., September 23, 2002

This review is from: Stealth Juror: The Ultimate Defense Against Bad Laws and Government Tyranny (Paperback)
...school students and any adult who may ever be on a jury. The book explains that juries were meant to be a limit on the power of the state, as represented by judges in courts, over the individual. The book also shows how the system has gradually, in the name of "justice" eroded the juries power and made it little more than a rubber stamp for whatt he judge, and the state he serves, want.

This book tells people it's time to take back some power from the judges, who have become nearly omnipotent dictators who can imprison american citizens on a whim, without trial, for years if they want to with no accountability to innocent people they wrong.

The book is one step in the right direction: Less power for the state in the form of the judges and more to the people in the form of the juries.

Hammerstein has brains and courage to write a book that attackes the judges and does what most media won't: Name bad judges who have become black-robed tyrants.

3.0 out of 5 stars not a novel not written by a scholar either, December 18, 2002
This review is from: Stealth Juror: The Ultimate Defense Against Bad Laws and Government Tyranny (Paperback)
As both a practicing lawyer(15+years) a practicing Doc. for 26 + years and a libertarian since 1980, I immediately ordered this book when I heard about it through some fully informed jury assoc. materials I had received.

I was not impressed with it! It is not a work of scholarship, not well documented and mainly a list of the authors opinions. I did not learn anything about the jury system that I did not already know, even the Greek Mythology part. I plan to run for judge in 04 and would have liked to be able to recommend this book to potential voters, but I am not going to be able to after reading it!

I rated it as high as I did because the author made some important points. Also, I hate having people giving low reviews to my book!
