My son loves it, the only bad point I have is that the water reserve tank is quite small and runs dry after only 5-10 minutes, but it's not difficult at all to refill. I think they should make more of the trains with "real" steam.

The steam action and real Thomas whistle make the train set so enjoyable for my children (3yrs and 16mo). It acts like a real train. My daughter loves switching the train to go either under the tunnel or over the bridge. It is a great starter train set because it has everything you need. You don't need to add anything more. The price is great for what you are getting (Thomas, Clarabel, Annie, the train set, bridge, tunnel, station and trees).

I bought this set for my son's third birthday, and it was a huge hit! He pushed all the other toys aside, and played with this all night. It's still played with every single day. It's a great starter set, and comes with a lot for only $39. I store all the parts and trains in a seperate plastic bin for ease, because it would take a long time to find all these pieces in my little boy's toy box. My son can put the track together himself, and get Thomas on the track and going around without any help. It's good on batteries, too, as we haven't had to replace them yet. Good buy, GREAT toy!

We got this for our 3 year old son for Christmas. After that - he wasn't interested in anything else - he sat in the middle of the track and played with it. He actually wore out the batteries in two days. However, that 's because we sound it in bed with him the next morning - still running. It's a little difficult changing out the batteries (at least on ours), however, I don't consider that a drawback, since I don't want him to be able to crack open the engine and take a look inside, which a lot of kids would. I wish we could get more expansion track and accessories for this set, however. If you lose any of the track it's difficult to reconfigure it. Overall, it's a well made toy that has been nearly impossible for my son to break, and he loves it.

My grandson loves trains and I think this is his favorite right now . Would recommend to anyone to buy for their train lover.

This is a nice set, the steam function is fun and my 2 year old really enjoys it. It has both a bridge and a tunnel. She likes "telling" the train to "Stoooooop at the station" and is learning to switch the tracks. However, I really wish I'd bought the Water Tower set instead, as that has the same (steam) gimmick but instead of needing to fill Thomas with a little eyedropper thingy, you simply drive him up to the water tower and fill from there. Much more 'realistic' and probably less messy. Both sets together is probably the way to go!

I gave this toy to my grandson for his fourth birthday. Eric said "it was simply amazing." My daughter said he played with it for several hours, which allowed her finish up some things she needed to do. Any boy who likes Thomas The Train will want the Steam Set.
