Danger Lights is brilliant walk through early twentieth century locomotives and Great Depression culture. Wonderfully detailed, this film features several classic trains and railways from the nineteen twenties, perfect for all railroad enthusiasts. Steam powered locomotives are truly the star of the film, but Danger Lights also includes a charming romance. When an engaged woman falls in love with a handsome hobo, life gets complicated for the old railroad supervisor who is set on marrying her. But here again is another historic gem: exacting representations of the life of vagrants who used to ride the rails during the Depression. Danger Lights is an exception film, both educational and entertaining for lovers of trains and lovers of American history.

For the Jean Arthur fan, this is a must have film. Released in 1930, it shows the daughter of a railroad man and the great locomotives that were such a great part of the life of the day, and night. Although I would not consider it a major motion picture, because it is on DVD, it should be a part of your Jean Arthur collection.
