Book Description

Quincy Mac is a maid in LA—a maid who’s accidently cleaned a murder scene.

Now she’s a murder suspect with only one option—find the real murderer before she ends up in jail for a crime she didn't commit.

Quincy came to LA looking for fame and fortune. What she's found is infamy and misfortune. There's a killer out there, and Quincy’s going to them...or die trying.

Editorial Reviews

"Hey, at least it's not a romance." Holly's son.

From the Author

Dear Reader,
I know you're accustomed to seeing my books set in Erie, or nearby cities.  But this story needed to be set in LA.  I mean, there aren't too many award winning television writers in Erie.  I've had fun visiting LA with this book.  (You'll still find an Erie connection!)

I'm so very excited about Quincy Mac.  She's one of those characters I've had in mind for years.  She's simply been waiting her turn.  Quincy's a mom.  She's a business owner...she's a maid.  She's also the family's black sheep.  She's a character I can identify with on so many levels.  I'm a mom.  And you can consider my writing a business, so I'm technically a business owner.  And since I am a mom, I'm sort of a glorified maid...well, actually, there's not much glory in it.  As for being a black sheep, well, I might not be a maid in a family full of doctors, but I am the girl who grew up with her nose in a book...and now writes them for a living.  My family and friends have been known to give me an odd look or two (see the reviews that follow), and there's definitely been a few headshakes and shoulder-shrugs in my general direction.

I so hope you enjoy Quincy and her friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars a rare treat July 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am more a romance fan than a mystery buff, but I got this book because I have many Holly Jacobs books and have always found them to be exceptional. I like books with characters that you care for. This book introduces you to one of the most lovable heroines I have read in a long time (and I average reading a book every 2 days.). The inner thoughts had me laughing from the second page, and kept me interested and smiling all throughout the book. The book is a genuine delight.

Don't get me wrong, it is not a comedy. It is a mystery with a well paced investigation that has clues sprinkled in throughout the book. You will likely solve it before the heroine, but the way it is set up, you will enjoy seeing her work out the truth. Without spoilers I can say it has a good ending, and you will be waiting for the next book in the series.

I bought this book this afternoon, and did not put it down until I finished it. I have always known Holly can write stories that can give you the full gamut of emotions, but have never seen her make a character so wonderfully off the wall as Quincy Mac. I have to suspect that Quincy is a favorite character of Holly's because the love of her shows in the book. When a good writer loves the and cares for the characters in her book, it shows, and the book becomes something more than words on a page... it becomes something special... it becomes a rare treat to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageously fun September 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Hooked me in the first chapter - how can you not love a story where the maid accidentally cleans the crime scene! If you like mysteries and like to laugh, this book is for you. The fast pace will keep you from getting bored. I've downloaded the next book in the series "Dusted" but don't want to start reading it until I can block out enough time to read the whole book at once!!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite authors! July 25, 2013

Holly Jacobs knows how to capture your attention and have you laughing until the tears roll down your cheeks. I often wonder if some of these things she writes about have happened in her own life because she makes them so real. She's a hoot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jacobs hit July 8, 2013

This is the first story by Holly Jacobs that I've read, but it certainly won't be the last! I loved her characters and how fun and entertaining they are with each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and fast-paced August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book--it's different from the author's usual books (which I also love). I agree with one of the reviewers who loved the heroine. I loved the hero, too. I thought the plot twists were great, keeping me guessing right along with Quincy about who the killer might be. And I had to laugh at her thinking about the main character of Castle, (who also played the part of Joey on "One Life to Live").

I look forward to reading "Dusted"--that should be fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It August 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hysterical. Really could relate to the heroine. Honestly I could see myself in a similar situation not really paying attention to the whole picture. She had a job to do and so she did unfortunately by doing her job so well, she caused problems for herself. Kept my interest the entire book. Definitely an author to keep track of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love it! September 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been a Jacobs fan for several years, but this book tops them all! Great story, great mystery, great laughs and (ahem) great sexual tension. (You can send Cal to arrest me anytime, Holly!)
Thanks for the great read.

The book was an easy read but it felt she was trying too hard to be cute and funny and I didn't really get into it. This is the downside of the free Kindle book, some of have led to my buying their other works and others like this left me not wanting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written. Very cute
One word of caution. You may feel the need to read the entire series. Then of course you will have to check out her other books. It's a slippery slope. Good luck to you. Read more

Steamed kept me interested all the way through but,it was too short. I wanted to read more. The relationship between Cal and she could have been developed more.

There were one or two good moments, but those were rare, and not often enough. I will NOT be reading any more of this series.

More About the Author

Holly Jacobs leads a life full of romance and adventure. From skydiving to jet-setting around Europe, from snorkeling in coral reefs to writing while wearing beautiful silk peignoir sets and popping chocolate bonbons, Holly Jacobs leads a life that is the epitome of romance... Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas and now even mysteries...but at heart, they're all stories of love.

I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!

Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!

(PS I have had problems with books I didn't write being self-published here and listed 'by Holly Jacobs'. If you don't see this bio attached to a book it's not by me.)
