Phillip Sayce shows no mercy on his fourth release. This is the second offering of his that I have purchased and I will definitely buy more. This is a hard rocking, funky, bluesy effort which opens with the searing title track and steamrollin' all the way to the closing tune which is an impressive instrumental.

The vocals are tight. In a review, I read;

"This is the most unfiltered album I've done," says the Toronto native. "The only goals were to be completely honest in every moment of writing and recording, so we could get all of the emotional intensity of these songs into the tracks."

The name of the album suits the composition. This is a blues rock full frontal attack. A modern blues energy and style, "The themes of this album are power, strength, belief, self-confidence, re-birth, inspiration and the dedication to break barriers," Sayce declares.

"Black Train" is a volume spiker, play it loud and enjoy the emotional and physical intensity of this cut. Most cuts are high energy rockers, but it's a lot deeper than that.

His music is worth the listen. Go ahead and get it at Amazon!! Viva La Canadian rockers!!

An interesting twist... I loaded up iRadio on my phone while driving home the other night. "Steamroller" started playing. I hadn't heard the song before, and I hadn't heard of Philip Sayce before (a pathetic fact, given my Canadian upbringing). I dug the tune from the opening guitar riff. Good stuff. So, in my "screw you, apple, I won't be chained to your garden" attitude, I got home and purchased the album from Amazon!

I definitely recommend a bit of spend for Philip Sayce's latest. Good to hear those old school influences come through. And it's always impressive to hear solid guitar chops aligned with solid vocal chops. This dude's got talent. Once he gets out of other musicians' shadows, he'll be super solid.

I really enjoy his music, no matter what; but I thought some of the production could have been a little cleaner.

Phil we all know you can play fast guitar but as you mature you will realise less is more.

I did most of what Philip has put out over the years. His vocal's or at least the recording of his vocals have improved. It does not seem to be so produced that you can't tell who is singing like a few others. Guitar solos are cool but they are still guitar solo's.
