3.0 out of 5 stars unconventially conventional, July 21, 2011
Make-up artist pretends to be an elderly lady with her cosmetically-altered features when she gatecrashes a hotel opening party of owner Hero as a form of secret rebellion for being made to leave hotel premises earlier that week. Hero is unsettled when he finds out heroine's charade & tries to control her with lawsuit threats but heroine doesn't respond as expected. Heroine's responses to Hero's seduction also baffles yet intrigues him. She returns his attraction but doesn't trust his motives. How can Hero prove his sincerity to heroine?

A decent read. Writing, pacing, & sexual chemistry were good. Sex scenes were generalized. Emotionality was even-keeled & tended to be on the lighter side. There were some funny moments especially when heroine was acting as an elderly lady. Not angtsy or poignant but still had a bit of depth through the characterization. Hero was a genius & successful in his career. He abided by social rules but was lonely due to keeping his emotions in check. Heroine was also an outsider even though she had a good social support. She was not successful career-wise but didn't mind it & used her talents to help others. They were both unconventional in some respects yet normal enough in their emotional needs & moral values.

Moderately recommended.

Ami soon discovered that messing with North was asking for trouble. And trouble was exactly what she got - of the hearbreaking kind!

Ann Charlton is one of my favorite authors. I love the way she combines witticism and depths to her characters. This book was no exception.
