Steamy Savannah Nights by Sheri Whitefeather lives up to its title.

Lea Nguyen has been planning to confront her biological father forever. She is shaken by their first meeting and is entrusted to the care of Michael Whittaker.

Michael has grown his security business over the years and is now reaping the rewards. He is supposed to be keeping his eyes on Lea but his hands keep getting in the way.

Both Lea and Michael are keeping secrets. But can they overcome them?

Sheri Whitefeather writes her characters with such passion and flare. I can't wait for her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy Savannah Nights, October 31, 2004

Sheri WhiteFeather has the ability to take some of the most complex topics and turns them into compelling and beautiful love stories!

Lea Nguyen, computer analyst, and Michael Whittaker, security consultant, are both dealing with abandonment issues from childhood.

Born in Vietnam, Lea is the love child of a Vietnamese mother and a Navy Seal. A war-time affair. She is driven to find and confront her father who is now running for state senator.

As a child, Michael watched his mother and father's dysfunctional relationship tear their marriage and family apart. After his father abandoned them, Micheal, as a teenager, had to watch his mother cry and yearn for him. But he never returned.

Sheri has taken these tragic circumstances and created a superb and definitely unforgettable love story.

Thank you Sheri! Your fans look forward to more in 2005!!

As other reviewers have mentioned, the story is as follows:

Lea Nguyen is an Amerasian girl (one of the many who have been fathered by either primarily white or black Vietnam vets). She shows up in Savannah the same time a 'Lady Savannah' shows up; a 'Lady Savannah' who is stalking a Caucasian senator that is running for office...whom Lea reveals during a press conference, that she is his illegitimate daughter.

Michael Whittaker is handling the security the senator, and is investigating this 'Lady Savannah'....and having an affair with Lea; an affair that is getting serious.

We learn if Lea and 'Lady Savannah' are the same; and, if Lea and the senator settle their differences...and a lot more.

I personally was looking for romance novels that centered on Asian protagonists; and, I thought this book did okay. The major gripe is that Lea feels sorry for herself a little too much throughout the story, and occasionally compares herself to Cindy, a tall, white, 'statuesque' blond that works for Michael. (As if Lea isn't 'American' because of her mixed blood, and Vietnamese heritage). Because of this, Lea didn't come off as a strong character for me; she has to be 'saved' by her lover Michael.

However, love scenes are hot, and obstacles showed up that kept me reading until the end...but, unfortunately, I don't see myself revisiting this novel.
