Nifty Canoe for paddling or sailing, October 31, 2004
I just came home from a nice day paddling and sailing with the Stearns inflatable canoe. I'm disgusted with Gary Powell writing negative reviews about boats he never even sat in or saw -- if he had, he would know this boat has 2 little keels on the bottom to help with tracking and that it does not "skitter sideways" all over the pond. And how much of a keel does any canoe have anyway? If you click on his "see my other reviews" link you'll see he has panned several inflatable boats. Are we to believe he's out there buying inflatable boats one after another that he hates? No. He just likes to write reviews and the fact that he knows nothing about a particular product doesn't stop him from saying it's not good. Shame on you Gary Powell!
One nice thing about this boat is how canoeish it looks. They've accomplished this in part by making the side air chambers very tall and skinny. This is very functional also; it means you don't have to reach way out past a fat side air chamber to reach the water with your paddle. But who wants to paddle when you can sail it? Put a SailboatsToGo inflatable canoe/kayak sail rig on it and you can let Mother Nature do the work as you sail all over the lake, including tacking into the wind.

Excellent quality and warranty, February 19, 2006
I own model B801 which might not be the same here, but it looks exactly the same. I have had it for a bit less than a year, so far. We used it extensively over the summer and we are looking forward to use it in the next.
When we bought this canoe we also bought an electric pump as we thought that it will work much better than the manual pump that came with the canoe. However, after inflating it for the first time we were gladly returning the electric pump; I was able to have the canoe fully inflated and ready to go within ten minutes (and not much effort) using only the manual pump.
After using the canoe a lot for several months we had a problem as one of the chambers broke internally: there was no leak of air but it could no longer hold its shape. Where we bought this canoe, it only came with one year manufacturer warranty. Hence, we contacted Stearns customer service: they were very friendly, they gave me a RMA# immediately, and believe it or not, I received a brand new chamber only one week (from Thursday to Thursday) after sending the broken one by mail!
The only negative point is that it is hard to dry it completely. Water gets in the canoe from splashing or from moisture that permeates through the seams. And in turn, this might lead to some smell if you don't wash it and towel dry it periodically.
Anyhow, this is a great product from a great company and I definitely recommend it.

James Bond - eat your heart out, September 29, 2004
Don't listen to any negatives...it's perfect for what is was designed for. Small rivers and placid lakes. Obviously no good for serious rapids and very windy open conditions.
Takes about 10 mins to inflate and is really strong and solid on the water...easily carries 2 heavy blokes and is wonderful for just packing in the car in case you might want to get on the water.
It's great to watch other people's faces as you get it out of the bag and then 10 mins later set-off on an adventure.
All in all - great.
