5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Lightweight poncho
I was looking for a poncho locally but could not find one except for the cheap throw-away ones. I came across this one and decided to give it a try. It is an excellent choice for the money and the Sportsman's Guide was very prompt in shipping it to me. I'm a big guy (5'10", 50" waist)and this poncho works great for me!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for emergency, one-time usage; bad for regular wear
As another reviewer noted, this poncho is not high enough quality to stand for multiple/regular use. I have worn this poncho on 4 different occasions when riding my bike in the rain: on its second time being worn, the PVC around one of the snaps ripped apart--annoyed though I was, the poncho was still technically usable, though the front now often blew away and exposed my...

5.0 out of 5 stars rain pancho, May 30, 2008
I bought three of these for an Alaskan trip. They are great! They are the best quality and keep you dry but not hot.

As another reviewer noted, this poncho is not high enough quality to stand for multiple/regular use. I have worn this poncho on 4 different occasions when riding my bike in the rain: on its second time being worn, the PVC around one of the snaps ripped apart--annoyed though I was, the poncho was still technically usable, though the front now often blew away and exposed my thighs to the elements. I don't recall if it was during the third or fourth time wearing it, but after my last use, as I was considering sending it back due to its flimsiness I spotted a 3" tear in the back. Mind you, I'm not trekking through wooded areas or climbing fences in this thing: I am literally sitting down on a bike, riding through paved city streets in the rain. There's no reasonable explanation for the rapid deterioration of this poncho in so short amount of time.

Given its price and quality, this would serve others well as an emergency, just-caught-in-the-rain poncho kept in a glove compartment or backpack. This poncho is NOT sturdy enough as a regular use poncho.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Price but You Get What You Pay For, February 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Unfolded this poncho on the first rainy morning after purchase. I pulled it from the packaging, unfolded it and put it over my head. Halfway down my torso it tore on the neck seam rendering it useless. So I missed my walk and wasted money. Extra star for the color, reflective portions, shape and low price. Spend a little more on something that will last more than zero wearings.

I guess I was expecting something better, but I should have realized for the price it wasn't the quality I wanted. I'll be using this as a spare until I find where I miss placed my good one.

It is better than the really cheap ones, but not as good as the ones that cost around $30. If you only need one ocassionally, this will work.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth even this price, February 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this poncho to protect me from rain during bike rides to the office. this barely held two rides before the bottom snaps on both sides tore as well as the hood on one side. now it's completely useless. all I did is ride with it for 10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend it at all!!

Inexpensive, functional, in an emergency where you have to be outside dry can mean warm which can mean survival. These are great for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Price-Quality Relationships, December 10, 2009

Good Price-Quality Relationships.

Keep you dry in any weather condition.

The material is very thin. You can use it only very carefully, otherwise you will tear it in the first time.

This is thin and appears a bit cheap at first but it is tough. I stored it in the bottom of my backpack with lots of junk packed on top. In spite of this it looked practically new when I lost it 3 months later (except a bit wrinkled). It is also very waterpoof (of course). I bought a new one immediately.
