This PFD is perfectly adequate. It has all of the safety features recommended by the powers that be (including a leg strap and a pad behind the head), fits infants 8-30 pounds, and looks decently made. I'd like to say it's a good deal and you should buy it-- it's much cheaper than other infant life vests, and it's well-made and seems entirely safe--but if you have a picky baby, he or she will not accept this vest (read: he or she will cry, loudly, plaintively_. This vest is filled with a hard styrofoam material like many inexpensive yet safe adult vests, and my own 3-month old, who is pretty easygoing, won't accept it for more than five minutes before he starts to whimper. I'd recommend giving it a try, like we did, but be prepared to have to try a different (more expensive) vest if your infant cries in this one. We're trying the Nemo Stohlquist one next... reviewers say it's a lot more pliable and comfortable-looking, and that infants accept it. I'm hoping that's true for mine.

this life jacket i'm sure will save my son's life, but he'll never wear it. he's 1 and 20 lbs, and we need something to keep him safe in at the pool and beach. this is way too small for him and it digs into his chin and face. he screams when we put it on him and he can hardly walk in it. there is no way this is an option for us to use at the pool and beach. i'm still looking for a life jacket for him. my older son loves the puddle jumper, but unfortunately the weight limit is too high for my younger son.

Tested it in the tub first and it was effective at keeping my 6 month old face up and afloat. She was fairly comfortable wearing it out on the boat. Suitable for a fairly wide age range. I'm sure she will still be wearing it a year from now. Very happy with my purchase.

My son is 3 1/2, weighs 29-30 lbs (depending on the day) and is 36" tall. This fits him PERFECTLY, and he does not seem uncomfortable in it at all. It helps him stay afloat as he learns to swim, and the quality seems to be great! I highly recommend this vest!

Our 2 yrs. old has no problem putting on this life vest when we go kayaking. Fit him nicely and securely. Not bulky at all.

My daughter is 20 mos and 25 lbs and this was perfect for her. She still has a lot of room to grow, so we will probably get another season or two out of it! Very happy with the purchase!

We bought this for our nephews/nieces and for our little fella' on the way. We've used it several times this summer when taking kids out in the boat. It seems to be a quality life vest at a reasonable price. One little guy cried the whole time he was in the boat -- not sure if it was the stiffness of the vest or some other issue that he didn't like. The other kids who've used it have been fine. We're happy with the purchase.

I imagine that this life vest would do its job if my baby were tossed in the water, but it was very uncomfortable for her to wear. She is 9 months old, 21 pounds and about 27 inches. The front of the vest pushed up on the sides of her head and it looked like it was about ready to pop her head off. She was very unhappy wearing the vest. I would recommend picking out one at a store where you can try it on. You might pay more, but hopefully you'll get one that is more comfortable for your baby.

I purchased this vest for my 7-week-old daughter. I was worried it would be too loose on her (she weighs about 8-9 lbs), but the jacket tightens up well. We tested it and there is no way her head could slip through and it holds her head and neck stable. Overall I am very happy about this purchase, especially for the price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the padding is fairly hard, so it's not the most comfortable thing for a young child to be laying on.

great jacket for the price. I couldnt believe that the blue one was cheaper than the red one. So if color is not a preference compare the prices.
