Based on the positioning of my motors, I would have liked to shorten the length of the connector by an inch. I would be willing to cut it off with a hacksaw. However, I could not find a way to get either end connector off, so I was unable to shorten it. Bending is bad (which is why I bought this replacement -- my repairman kept bending replacements, which ruins them because they bend more later when you steer). I did put a short extension on one of my motors and then tied them together with this product, unbent, and it worked very well all season.

I helped my brother install this motor link on his fishing boat. We were so pleased with the result that when I added a kicker motor on my patio boat I also purchased one. I ran it from the control arm of my Yamaha F150 to my 9.8 Tohatsu and thankfully it was just long enough. It works very well other than when I fully lock the wheel to the left it pulls the kicker a little too far and it gets stuck in a left turn. I believe this can be fixed with a little adjustment when I pull the boat out of the slip this fall. The product works wonderfully as advertised and is an inexpensive and convenient way to control your kicker motor.
