Stedman's Surgery Words, April 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Stedman's Surgery Words (Stedman's Word Books) (Paperback)
Steadman's Surgery Words is an excellent reference book for medical transcriptionists who encounter terminology concerning surgical procedures frequently. Many medical dictionaries do not include references to specific surgical terminology, making this book an essential addition to the medical transcriptionist's library. The book cross references terms that contain multiple words. If only one word can be clearly understood then it can be referenced to find other terms commonly associated with it. There are terms that can be used for general medical transcription but not all non-surgical medical words are represented so a general medical dictionary is still needed to complement this book. Also, not all medical equipment names are included so a medical-surgical equipment book may still be needed also, especially for transcription of surgical reports. Overall, this book is an important reference book that contains the names of specific names of surgical procedures and many associated surgical terms.

Stedman's Surgery Words including Anatomy and Anesthesia, August 10, 2007
This review is from: Stedman's Surgery Words (Stedman's Word Books) (Paperback)
Having been a medical transcriptionist for over 40 years and a nurse for 11, I found all of Stedman's word books to be exceptionally helpful. They are great student resources as well. The books are in the characteristic alphabetical order. Each book is unique to its practice. Surgery is a very difficult subject to transcribe, and this book has helped me find that oh-so-difficult word or term needed to complete a report. This is a great resource tool to keep next to your medical dictionary and other medical word books.

You won't like this book., July 30, 2001

This review is from: Stedman's Surgery Words (Stedman's Word Books) (Paperback)
This book references things in the oddest of all ways. It is difficult to find words here that are normally used surgical words. I am told that Tessier's surgical word book is much better even though copyrighted in 1991. I am sure it could not be worse than this book!
