1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I have spent a bit of time in the Bahamas and the West Indies and I was hoping to hear that same steel drum island music. This is terrible compared to others I have heard.

I have quite a few Caribbean steel drum CD's, but folks, this is absolutely the worst I have ever heard. It sounds like someone banging on the bottom of a tin can...My internet connection is too slow to review music.........Had I been able, I would have certainly got a good laugh out of this one.Don't even consider this.

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE OF VOO DOO INFLUENCES, September 16, 2010

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to warn others about what I discovered. The music is absolutely fabulous BUT I kept hearing a "hissing" noise in the background in almost every song and it bothered me. The hissing reminded me of a snake, which I immediately associated w/satan. After much research about voo doo, I learned that the snake is considered "holy" and is worshiped. I also read that those who worship serpents as part of their ritual SACRIFICE & CANNIBALIZE young children!!! I wanted to VOMIT when I read that!

I also learned that after you place a curse on an object, a "hissing" noise can be heard once an evil spirit enters that object.

Even though it's the best steel drum music I have ever heard, I've decided not to listen to it anymore for fear of any negative influences it will have upon my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal!, April 23, 2009

I searched for these old recordings that have been repackaged so many times. I don't think anyone knows who these musicians are. These are very old recordings of a small steel band. There are no electric instruments at all. This my all-time favorite steel drum collection. It's not for everyone though. I just love the sound of rusty old pans. The music sounds like something you might hear in the tropical rain forest at Disney World. P.S. Track #2 'Grass Skirt' is actually 'Mama Look A Bubu'. Enjoy!
