Very nice book and does a good job distinguishing between LRFD and ASD methods. Examples are thoroughly explained too. Required for my steel design course in structural engineering.

I purchased this book because I wanted to study for the PE exam, and this book is just great, very simply to understand, there are good examples and the theory behind it is just well explained. I would definitely recommend this book to whoever is looking for a refresh in steel design.

Good textbook,

The author of this textbook does a very good job of simplifying complex topics and design procedures in steel. This textbook does fail on explaining the theory and mechanics of steel members, which I believe is very important in design. If you simply just want to learn the design procedures of steel members, this is an excellent textbook. However, if you want to learn the theory and mechanics of steel members, I would not buy this book. This book also contains many mistakes, so if you do buy it, be sure to view the errata from the publishers website.

This book is simply excellent. The author is capable of making a complicated subject very easy to understand. There is no other steel book comparable to this one in terms of clarity. After you read this one you can look at other authors: Vigil Jason, Charles Salmon, etc. When you read Salmon you will understand why Segui is very good.

So far, great book for learning steel design,
This review is from: Steel Design (Hardcover)
We've been using this book for the past two weeks in my Steel Design class and so far it has been very good in explaining the basics of design for tension and compression members. There are plenty of examples and problems that students can do using this book in conjunction with the AISC Steel Manual. This is a great book and hopefully it'll stay this way for the rest of the course.
