About the Author

Ann Brandt is the alter-ego of a Seattle journalist who worked in the New York City music scene in the 1980's, when heavy metal hit its peak. And yes... she did spend some time backstage.

More About the Author

ANN BRANDT is my alter-ego. I'm a former broadcast journalist now working on a daytime talk show in the Pacific Northwest and working on two other novels surrounding 80's metal groupies in NYC and LA. I'm also formulating a steamy romance series that centers around hockey. (If you don't think hockey is hot, I dare you to watch these guys on the ice. I mean, REALLY watch the way they move! Then, try to envision them out of those bulky uniforms.)

Steel Goddesses is a labor of love twenty years in the making. Characters are loosely based on people I knew or met while working in the recording industry in NYC in the 80's. The Steel Goddesses novels are my homage to the heyday of 80's metal and the women who took groupie-dom to new and dizzying heights. If you weren't lucky enough to live during that time, just watch Metal Mania on VH1 Classic and check out the women in those videos. I'm not saying those girls were groupies, mind you, but the plumage certainly is similar.

I love my life in the NW with my former hockey player husband, our teenage son (who does NOT like hockey), our crazysmart dog and wacky kitten. But I really love taking you on a stroll down memory lane, to the days of big hair, big makeup, spandex, leather and power chords. I hope you love it, too.

Ann has written a wonderful story that gives us a glimpse into the world of heavy metal groupies and music.

You won't need to read very far into this book to realize this has all the markings of a story with plenty of "behind the scenes" real life experience.

The characters are three-dimensional, the plot is engaging, and the background details pulled me right back to my "misspent" youth in the 1980s.

What Rupert Holmes did for big bands with Swing, Ann Brandt does for the heavy metal set. A mystery with great characters in a vivid setting pulls me back to a misspent youth I wasn't brave enough to have. This is a page turner, ideal for adding some spice to a relaxing day on vacation. A whole bunch of fun to read!

Nice premise and a fun read however someone should have fired the editor. It is very distracting when spelling and grammatical errors are too many to count.

You won't need to read very far into this book to realize this has all the markings of a story with plenty of "behind the scenes" real life experience. The characters are a bit brash at first, but you'll soon realize there is a bit more reality than you may have expected! Can't wait for the follow up.
