Diablo III Headset cans lightweight and adjustable

Featuring 50mm driver units that reproduce crystal clear sounds in high, low, and mid-range tones, the SteelSeries Diablo III Headset is at the core of creating an incredible Diablo III audio experience. Whether it's the ominously-toned soundtrack, the approaching hiss of a Witch Doctor's firebomb, or the bloody rage of a Barbarian whirlwind, users will clearly hear the gut-wrenching hurls and exploding innards of your enemies.

Demon Red Illumination

Alert the world around you that you're in the game. The matte black headset features "demon" red, LED illumination on the right and left side Diablo III logo slashes, and around each earcup. Choose your level of pulsating glow, or if lights don't interest you, easily turn it off via the SteelSeries Diablo III Headset software. Don't worry, it's not the Burning Hells that power this bad boy, but a total of 18 LED lights to power the red illumination and 4 pulsation options.

Equalize It All

Let's face it, the way you hear the game is unique to the tones your hearing can pick up, and probably completely different than the next gamer. So SteelSeries provides Diablo III Headset users the ability to adjust, personalize, and save all of their audio and equalizer settings. Save up to 8 settings for specific character profiles, all using the Diablo III-themed driver and software.

The software provides a Diablo III themed interface for the Diablo III gaming mouse (sold separately) and headset. The software opens a mock 'class selection screen' with which you can tie profiles to your specific characters in-game. Use the software with the Diablo III headset to adjust equalizer settings, microphone volume, microphone noise reduction, illumination pulsation, and illumination intensity.

Keep Out The Noise

The earcups feature a leather-covered, noise-reducing foam, which helps you to focus on important audio or voice communication without being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise.

Lightweight Champion

SteelSeries' over-the-head suspension design keeps the Diablo III Headset cans lightweight and adjustable for just about every head size. Keep the gameplay heavy, not the gear you're wearing to play it.

Retractable Microphone

The Diablo III Headset features a retractable microphone system. Pull it out when you need it. Hide it in the left earcup when you don't.

In-Line Volume Control

The integrated volume controller on the cord offers also offers a mute button, all for instant control without having to navigate through software settings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful looking headset but some concerns December 11, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
As a DJ and avid gamer I'm always in the market for decent headphones. I've had so many over the years I've lost track as to the actual number. When I saw this SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Headset on Amazon Vine I jumped at the change to try them out. Here are my thoughts;

Pros

+ Official licensed Blizzard/Diablo product.

+ Deep red lighting on the side of the headset looks neat even if it's just cosmetic.

+ Beautiful Diablo III logos on headset as well as extremely nice packaging/box.

+ Superb sound. The bass is warm and rich, better than the majority of headphones I've owned.

+ Set-up and installation of software was easy.

+ Sits comfortably on your head and adjusts easily (comes with a con see below).

+ Lightweight (also a con, see below).

+ Mic is clear, bendable and retractable/concealable inside the left ear cup. A great feature.

+ Headset cord is entirely covered with a black and red nylon preventing tangling. Another
really great feature.

+ Headset controls are convenient, easy to use and include mic mute and volume buttons.

+ USB cord extender included.

Cons

- Pricey. Way more expensive than it's worth.

- Majority of the headset is made of plastic making it feel rather cheap

- Initial cord is a bit too short.

- Ear cups don't swivel/twist side to side like many of the other higher end headsets.

- USB extender cord is not covered in the same red and black nylon as the headset cord.

- Display lights are not LED.

- No mic adjustments included in the software.

- Doesn't grant pure noise isolation as the ear cups don't completely cover your ear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks Nice, Sounds Nice -- but a few minor problems November 22, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
The first thing you notice is how nice this Diablo headset is on the eyes. The design is slick and the illuminated red gives off an intense glow that says "I'm ready to play." The headphones are very comfortable even after 3-4 hours of play and don't build up noticeable heat, sweat, or pressure points. I'm not sure the headset would work very well with small heads however due to the lack of adjustable ear pieces.

The sound is rich with plenty of bass. The mic produces crisp, high quality sound although it does catch a little more breathing and background noise than hoped. The headset extension chord also helps especially if you plug it into the rear of your PC. I tested this game with Left 4 Dead 2 and Battlefield 3 -- the sound and mic performed excellent.

Now for the bad. I found problems with using USB compared to the old style audio jacks. Sometimes my computer won't re-recognize the headset if it gets unplugged and the re-plugged in. Other times I have to shutdown the game/app and restart to get the mic to work if I forget to plug in before starting. I also noticed that while listening to music, rapidly scrolling in my browser would cause audio clicks. Some windows opening also caused clicks during the music. Although I have praise for the look of the earphones, I found the plastic audio controller and the base USB connector had a cheap feel and look to them compared to the earphones. The mute control was also a bit awkward to move, and it is not clear which of the two positions is mute. The manufactures used a barely noticeably thin strip of red paint to show which direction is mute.

The manual also tells you that you can download a tool that will allow you to configure your headset.

So I will keep this relatively short.
If you want to watch my in depth review google Psylacus and Diablo 3 headset and you will find a 3 part review going over everything you probably want to know about them.

Now, the headset is based on the Siberia v2. I think they are around 80-90 dollars or so. These cost around 120 so you are paying about 30 mroe dollars for the cool Diablo theme.

Yes, they are awesome looking if you like red and are into the dark tribal look. If so, you will like these a lot.

The sound they produce are similar to a 60 dollars pair of headphones.
So remember, you are buying a gaming headset, not a audiophile grade 300 dollar pair of Sennhieser/Shure...
The sound is also improved by having a decent sound card or amplifier combo.
The headset construction is good, full of screws and thick plastic. It doesn't look like it will fall apart anytime soon! The lights can be turned on and off and set to different intensities as well as pulsating. The coolest setting probably comes in the form of the Trigger function which reacts to the sound coming from your computer.

They are styled like some DJ headphones with a suspended band in the center and full coverage design the goes around your ears not on it. They have active noise canceling that takes out some of the surrounding sound. They are very comfortable and can be worn for hours. Software suit is themed to the game and functions on the same platform Steelseries engine that all the others do.
Headset also has a built in controller that allows you to adjust the volume and mute the microphone.
Microphone is very tin-y but its easy to understand.

Box artwork is awesome!

I recommend this set. It looks great and and feels great when you wear it. Quality seems about average compared to other sets. And the performance isn't bad at all.
